The Brussels-based Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) is predicting a “bigger, bolder [and] busier” edition of its annual World Recycling Convention, which this year will be held May 25-28, in Valencia, Spain.
BIR also describes its exhibition space in Valencia as having expanded compared with initial plans, saying it has released a floor plan with new booths that have been added “due to increasing demand.”
“More companies than ever are eager to join us at the world’s leading recycling convention, so we have added extra stands to give more businesses the chance to be seen, connect and grow,” states the organization.
BIR anticipates exhibitors will be able to “engage directly with over 1,500 buyers, suppliers and decision makers expected to join us in Valencia this May.”
On the programming front, BIR says its Ferrous Division meeting in Valencia will feature a presentation from staff member Daniel Pietikaïnen, a trade and environment policy officer, who “will provide an exclusive look at BIR’s groundbreaking new study with KPMG, which presents fresh data on the environmental savings generated by recycled materials, particularly ferrous metals.”
Another presentation will be given by economics professor Frank Pothen of the University of Applied Sciences in Jena, Germany. Pothen will “further analyze the data” in the BIR/KPMG study, says BIR, “connecting it with international studies and highlighting key trends.”
The meeting also will feature its customary remarks by from BIR Ferrous Division Statistics Advisor Rolf Willeke, who will present key findings from the 16th edition of BIR’s annual publication of recycled steel statistics, “World Steel Recycling in Figures”
