Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-W) and Reps. Glenn Grothman (R-WI), Haley Stevens (D-MI) and Morgan McGarvey (D-KY) have relaunched the bipartisan Congressional Aluminum Caucus, which serves to raise awareness and discuss the importance of the U.S. aluminum industry, production and use of the metal and key issues within the industry. The Aluminum Caucus was first formed in 2013.

According to the Aluminum Association, Arlington, Virginia, the aluminum industry has facilities in nearly every Congressional district, supports nearly 700,000 American jobs and contributes $228 billion in economic activity nationwide.

“I am glad to serve alongside my colleagues as one of the co-chairs of the bipartisan Congressional Aluminum Caucus," Miller says. "Aluminum is a critical metal that is used to produce a variety of important items from kitchenware [and] furniture to aircraft. The U.S. aluminum industry provides jobs for hundreds of thousands of hard-working Americans, and over 1,100 of those jobs are held by West Virginians. As a result, billions of dollars have been added to our nation’s economy. Together we will find ways to embolden the industry and strengthen U.S. manufacturing.”

"I am incredibly proud to serve as a co-chair of the Aluminum Caucus, advocating for the 700,000 workers in the U.S. aluminum industry, including 2,817 in Wisconsin’s Sixth District,” Grothman adds. “The industry is a cornerstone of the American economy. To ensure its continued growth and global competitiveness, we need to prepare the next generation of students for the good-paying skilled jobs like the ones found in the aluminum industry. This includes workers trained in both traditional manufacturing processes and advanced, cutting-edge technologies. I am excited to get to work.”

“Aluminum is a cost-effective and recyclable material our manufacturers rely on to make sustainable, innovative products. That’s why I’m thrilled to co-chair the Congressional Aluminum Caucus this Congress to advance smart policy to help our aluminum industry thrive whether making cans, auto parts or airplanes," Stevens adds.

"From Ford trucks to aluminum cans and solar panels, aluminum manufacturing and recycling are critical to Louisville's economy,” McGarvey says. “I am honored to co-chair the Congressional Aluminum Caucus and continue fighting to create good-paying jobs and economic opportunity for working families across my hometown.”
