BHS-Sonthofen expands its capacity in China

German equipment maker adds fourth building to its campus in Tianjin, China.

Sonthofen, Germany-based equipment maker BHS-Sonthofen GmbH has added a new, fourth factory building at its Chinese campus in Tianjin, China. The company says the new building has a usable floor area of 2,000 square meters (21,500 square feet) and it will serve mainly as a warehouse while also offering some manufacturing space.

After a six-month construction period, the new building was inaugurated with a ceremony in mid-July 2017. The inauguration was attended by BHS managers from Germany, the entire Tianjin workforce, sales staff from Beijing and from Xuzhou, China, as well as the architect and the local construction company involved.

BHS-Sonthofen says it has invested “several million euros” in the creation and expansion of its production and storage campus in Tianjin. “Due to steady growth and increased production volumes in recent years, it was necessary to expand the capacity in Tianjin again,” says the firm, adding that the new 21,500-square-foot addition involved an investment of about 7 million Chinese yuan (around €900,000 or $1 million).

BHS-Sonthofen designs and makes size reduction, mixing, sorting and filtration equipment for several industry sectors, including the recycling industry.
