Nearly two dozen speakers have been lined up to make presentations at the Asia INTL Li-ion Battery Recycling Summit 2023 event, which will take place Dec. 5-7 in Singapore.
Allen Yu, with event organizer GDMMC, says Singapore is a logical host city for a conference on emerging battery recycling technologies, saying, “Southeast Asia is becoming a real hub for battery recycling with rapidly expanding recyclers in Malaysia, Indonesia, Phillippines, Laos and, indeed, Singapore.”
Some of the battery recycling techniques of Singapore-based TES will be on display in a tour that has been organized attached to the Summit. TES is owned by South Korea-based SK Ecoplant, with Yu saying that nation has become deeply involved in lithium-ion battery production and recycling as well.
He says the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region that includes Singapore has for a long time, alongside South Korea, been a gateway to China for recycled battery materials, adding nearly 10 battery makers from China have invested in Southeast Asia.
Speakers representing companies from Asia and beyond have agreed to take part in the Summit, with companies or organizations represented including TES, Ace Green Recycling, Zhejiang Huayou Recycling Technology Co. Ltd., Tata International, EcoNiLi Battery, Circular Energy Storage and Singapore-based hydrometallurgical battery recycling technology provider Green Li-ion.
Yu says the Summit has been designed to support a region with a growing electric vehicle industry in several countries and increasing ambitions in battery manufacturing.
