The 2024 ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Circular Plastics Summit, scheduled for June 27-28, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will feature speakers from several multinational companies commenting on the global future of recycled-content plastics globally.
A session called “Driving Plastic Circularity—Infrastructure, Innovation, Financing and Partnerships” will include comments from Thomas Chhoa, a senior Advisor to the office of the CEO of the Singapore-based Alliance to End Plastics Waste.
A session titled “The future of the recycled plastics market in Malaysia through a Circular Economy for Solid Waste,” will feature Roberto Benetello, the CEO of the Malaysian Recycling Alliance Berhad.
At a session called “Case studies of the integrated mechanical and chemical recycling of ocean-bound and hygiene-grade plastics,” Kian Seah, CEO of Malaysia-based Heng Hiap Industries (HHI) will make a presentation.
A panel discussion called “Value chain collaboration – Accelerating Plastics Circularity” will feature a moderator provided by ExxonMobil Chemical and panelists recruited from multinational firms Nestlé, Amcor, HHI and KPT.
The Malaysian Recycling Alliance will take center stage at a session titled “Designing for Circularity: How Malaysian industry plays a role in consumer packaging circularity.”
Other companies and entities participating in the program include PepsiCo, Gneuss Kunststofftechnik, PCX Markets, Braskem and the Vietnam Waste Recycling Association.
A session titled “Feedstock quality and availability for recycling: understanding the current challenges of sourcing plastic waste” will feature comments from an S&P Global Commodity Insights staff member.
Also appearing on the stage in late June in Kuala Lumpur are representatives from APChemi, Swire Coca-Cola, the Philippine Alliance for Recycling and Materials Sustainability and India-based non-governmental organization Plastics For Change.
