Appliance Recycling Center of America opens Milwaukee recycling facility

The facility will process units collected through Focus on Energy’s appliance recycling program.

Appliance Recycling Centers of America Inc. (ARCA), a Hopkins, Minnesota-based provider of utility appliance recycling programs, has celebrated the official opening of its Milwaukee-area appliance recycling center Thursday, April 20, 2017. The center will process units collected through Focus on Energy's appliance recycling program. Focus on Energy is Wisconsin utilities' statewide energy efficiency and renewable resource program.

The recycling services ARCA offers are designed to guarantee that every appliance collected through its energy efficiency programs are fully demanufactured, stripped of hazardous materials, such as CFC-refrigerants, blowing agents in foam insulation and mercury switches, and disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner. The Milwaukee recycling center will process approximately 16,000 fridges and freezers this year.

ARCA's Appliance Recycling Programs help to drive two important focus-areas for utilities: kilowatt reductions and increased customer satisfaction.

"Across the country, we constantly hear from our utility customers how great our program is for driving customer satisfaction scores, while taking old, energy-guzzling refrigerators off the grid," says JP Harper, chief operating officer at ARCA. "We are thrilled to be working with the Focus on Energy team and Wisconsin residential customers to deliver this program."
