Anvil Attachments, Slaughter, La., has delivered an 11.25-cubic yard 8-tine scrap grapple to a customer in its home state of Louisiana. The newly-fabricated unit was delivered to Associated Terminals in Louisiana in mid-August. “We are really proud to be one of a very few companies that still manufacture these units in the United States,” says David LaFleur of Anvil Attachments. The company’s multi-tine grapples feature tines made of T-1 (A514) alloy steel that are available in narrow, semi-blade or fully enclosed designs.
The large 8-tine grapple purchased by Associated Terminals can open to more than 20 feet wide and has an operating weight of 45,000 pounds. According to LaFleur, it can lift from 25,000 to 55,000 pounds of scrap, depending on the grade being moved. The Anvil Model GS-1125-8 grapple will be working in tandem with a Gottwald-brand harbor crane to transload scrap to and from river barges and bulk oceangoing vessels.
