Alter announces several management promotions

The company says the promotions all support its growth strategy and long-term succession plan.

Alter Trading Corp. has announced several changes within its leadership team that support the company’s growth strategy and its long-term succession plan.

Jack Grundfest, who has served as Alter Trading’s senior vice president and chief administrative officer who joined the company in 2018 with the acquisition of Tenenbaum Recycling Group, has been promoted to president of Alter Trading.

“Jack has made a significant contribution to our organization during his relatively short tenure,” the company states in a news release on his promotion. “In his new role, Jack will have responsibility for all of the company’s corporate functions, administrative departments and the ferrous and nonferrous marketing groups.”

Michael Goldstein

Michael Goldstein, a member of the fifth generation of his family to have an active role in the leadership of Alter, has been promoted to executive vice president of operations. Goldstein will continue to have responsibility for daily operations of all of the company’s 70 locations and oversight of capital allocation, and he will take on increasing responsibility for operational support services.

Grundfest will report to Alter CEO Jay Robinovitz, and he and Goldstein will work closely together as they assume new responsibilities.

In support of these changes, Alter says it has made several other promotions.

Robin Cai has been promoted to Alter’s managing director of Asia. Cai joined Alter in 2005 and manages the trading activity with the company’s customers in Asia. Cai and her team are currently located on the ground in Hong Kong and provide immediate response and timely communications to Alter’s end users in Asia.

Michelle Roosa has been promoted to serve as Alter’s vice president of human resources. Roosa has been with Alter since 2012. During her tenure, she has built what Alter calls a “seasoned team of human resource professionals” that have supported the necessary growth of human capital and have helped drive the succession planning process for the organization.

Sarah Schlichtholz has been promoted to serve as Alter’s vice president of environmental and community. Schlichtholz joined Alter in 2007 and has helped manage the company’s environmental team and all aspects of its environmental compliance and management programs as well as leading the company’s community affairs and gifting programs.

Bart Childers, who has been with Alter since 2007, has been promoted to serve as vice president of information technology at Alter. Childers has helped to advance the company’s technology capabilities as it has grown. He leads an experienced team of IT professionals who work together to support all facets of the organization.

Jeff Wilke, who has been with Alter since 2010, has been promoted to vice president of safety at Alter. Wilke built and supervises the company’s team of regional safety professionals.
