WeRecycle! LLC, an electronics recycling firm based in Mount Vernon, N.Y., announced that it is among the first electronics recyclers in the United States to earn e-Stewards Certification for Responsible Recycling and Reuse of Electronic Equipment from the Basel Action Network (BAN).
BAN created the e-Stewards certification to provide a thorough, independently audited standard that helps businesses, governments and consumers indentify responsible recyclers.
The company notes that it is one of three companies that so far has met the BAN certification’s standard.
WeRecycle! adds that it has been a signatory to BAN's "Pledge of True Stewardship" program for a number of years, voluntarily pledging to adhere to the highest standards of electronic recycling, including not exporting toxic scrap to developing countries, not sending electronic scrap to prison labor facilities and maintaining a zero landfill objective.
"WeRecycle! LLC is perfectly positioned to continue our growth and expansion in the months and years to come," says Mick Schum, president. "Our e-Stewards Certification will provide new opportunities to build upon our record of excellence in responsible materials recovery."
In the past year, WeRecycle! has invested in materials sorting technology that enables the company to recover the highest obtainable value of pure recyclable commodities, while adding safe and secure jobs to the domestic economy.
