Seeking guidance

ARMA Live! Conference 2014 takes the Vegas Strip by storm Oct. 26-30. ARMA 2014 features more than 70 education programs presented by experts in the legal, information technology and information management professions as well as an expo hall boasting more than 200 top-tier exhibitors showcasing a wide array of the latest offerings—from technology to storage.

More than 4,000 professionals from around the world will gather for unparalleled education, networking and access to top-of-the-line, leading-edge products and services.

Information governance continues to be inextricably linked with document storage, secure document destruction, digital document management and data protection. Among the ARMA 2014 sessions that can help cut through the clutter of compliance are:

  • A Practical Guide to Taxonomy;
  • Beyond Retention: Leveraging the Records Inventory for Information Governance;
  • Overcoming the Challenges of Large-Scale Disposition Projects;
  • Setting the Stage for Automatic Disposition;
  • The Convergence of Records Management and Digital Preservation; and
  • Using New, Analytical Approaches to Enhance the Governance of Information.

A number of new features have been added for ARMA 2014, including Designation Academy, which comprises ICRM’s CRM Exam Prep: Introduction and Parts 1-6, Essentials of the Generally Accepted Recordkeeping Principles® Certificate and Becoming a Certified Information Governance Professional (IGP). This year’s preconference session, A Roadmap to Records Retention Schedule Development, provides the research and appraisal skills necessary for developing a records retention schedule or revising an existing one. Prior to the keynote speaker, Rick Smolan, three speakers deliver 12- to 14-minute presentations modeled after TED Talks on the hottest trends in information governance and big data.

With limited time to attend so many valuable education sessions in person, attendees are likely to miss some sessions they want to participate in. As a bonus, full conference registrants also receive access to all conference Web seminars during a 60-day free viewing period that begins Nov. 27. This is a $475 value.
