2. S+S Flake Purifier C. S+S Separation and Sorting Technology GmbH, Schönberg, Germany, has developed the S+S Flake Purifier C, which sorts PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and HDPE (high-density polyethylene) into fractions by color. Features include:

• Based on a modular concept in which up to three sensors can be combined to separate by color as well as to separate metals and detect and remove contamination (e.g., different types of plastics)
• Optical inspection is performed by high-speed CCD (charge-coupled device) cameras

3. Dust Control Technology Midget Nozzle. Dust Control Technology, Peoria, Ill., has introduced the Midget Nozzle, which it says is designed for application-specific dust suppression. Features include:

• Well-suited for indoor applications, such as interior demolition, mining, transfer stations and recycling, in which the water volumes from standard nozzle configurations could be undesirable
• Reduced moisture in end products
• Enhanced odor control
