City Carton Names Recycling Facilities Manager
City Carton, Iowa City, Iowa, has hired Eric Smith as recycling facilities manager of its Iowa locations in Mt. Pleasant, Muscatine and Creston.
Smith will oversee operations of these three facilities and will be responsible for implementing a plan to market products and services offered by City Carton Recycling with the goals of growing customer service, vendor relations, sales and profits.
Smith also will be responsible for building and equipment needs and personnel at the three plants. He will report to Daryl Russ, City Carton Recycling vice president of operations.
City Carton, founded in 1967, is a full-service paper recycling company. Additionally, the company sells and services a full range of new and rebuilt recycling and refuse equipment.
The company has a total of eight recycling facilities in Iowa. City Carton also operates Document Destruction and Recycling Services, a full service, bonded, confidential materials shredding company with facilities in the Iowa cities of Cedar Rapids, Davenport and Altoona.
City Carton provides recovery programs for recyclable cardboard, office paper, plastic, tin, aluminum, newspaper, magazines, books, outdated forms and materials for thousands of municipal, commercial and industrial customers throughout Iowa and the Midwest.
Vecoplan Appoints Wood, Biomass and Biofuels Sales Manager
Vecoplan LLC, Archdale, N.C., has added Yuri Chocholko as its North American wood, biomass and biofuels sales manager. Chocholko will be responsible for overseeing the growth and strategic development of Vecoplan's existing markets for machinery, equipment and systems in the wood, biomass and biofuels industries throughout the United States and Canada.
In addition to a BTEC (Business and Technology Education Council) Higher National Diploma in mechanical and production engineering from Leeds Metropolitan University, Leeds, U.K., Chocholko has 19 years of industrial wood capital equipment sales, service and management experience.
Marty Kennedy, executive vice president of Vecoplan LLC, says, "The sustained growth that we've experienced, especially in large systems for wood and biomass being prepped for conversion to alternative fuels, has made it necessary for us to expand both our facilities and our personnel. Steel Dynamics Appoints New President, CEO
The board of directors for Steel Dynamics Inc. (SDI), Fort Wayne, Ind., has appointed Mark Millett to the position of president and CEO. Millett, a director and cofounder of the company, previously served as president and COO of SDI. Millett is scheduled to step into his new role Jan.1, 2012.
Keith Busse, co-founder of SDI, will continue to serve as chairman and CEO through Dec. 31, 2011, and then will serve as chairman of SDI's board of directors and will provide consulting services to SDI.
"This promotion of Mark represents the successful culmination of the company's long-term succession plan and signifies the high degree of confidence in Mark, shared by both the board and senior management," Joseph Ruffolo, SDI's lead independent director, says.

Mark Millett has held numerous leadership roles within the steel industry since 1981. At Steel Dynamics, prior to his appointment as president and COO, Millett was the executive vice president of metals recycling and ferrous resources and the president and COO of OmniSource Corp. since 2008. Millett also held the positions of president and COO of Flat Rolled Steels and Ferrous Resources as well as numerous other leadership positions at the company.
Previous to Steel Dynamics, Millett was employed by Nucor Corp. for 12 years, where he served in several key positions and led the design, construction and operation of the melting and casting facility at the world's first thin-slab mini-mill in Crawfordsville, Ind.
PSC Metals Names Northern Region President
Randolph Ehret has been named president, Northern region, of PSC Metals Inc., Cleveland. He assumed his new position Nov. 15, 2011.
Ehret joins PSC Metals from The Timken Co., Canton, Ohio. During his 31-year career with The Timkin Co., he attained the position of general manager, Strategic Sourcing, Steel.
Dave Spector, PSC's president and COO, says, "Randy served The Timken Co. with integrity, intelligence and loyalty. We look forward to Randy bringing to PSC these same qualities, along with his extensive industry experience."
PSC Metals' operations are classified into four main business segments: ferrous and nonferrous recycling operations, brokerage, secondary plate and secondary pipe. The company has a logistics and transportation department and can execute supply chain management via rail, highway, barge and other vessels.
Wendt Corp. announces promotion
Wendt Corp., Tonawanda, N.Y., has promoted Kemal Koksal to project manager.
Since joining Wendt in 2008, Koksal has designed plant layouts, created general arrangement sales drawings, visited customer sites and designed large non-ferrous systems. In his new role, he will provide installation and commissioning oversight.
Koksal will continue to report to Rick Howe, Wendt engineering manager.
Howe says, "Kemal's promotion to project manager will be seamless due to his experience at Wendt and time spent working with our customers."
Wendt designs and makes automobile shredding and nonferrous separation systems.
