BHS Installs Dual-Line Recycling System in UK
Bulk Handling Systems (BHS), based in Eugene, Ore., is installing a custom, highly automated, dual-function sorting system for a new material recovery facility (MRF) in Leicester, U.K., owned by Casepak. The system will process 150,000 metric tons of recyclables per year and is scheduled to become operational in September.
"This is an exciting time for us," says Mark Smith, joint managing director at Casepak. "Once the facility becomes fully operational, it will more than double the quantity of material that Casepak can handle as well as increase the number and type of materials that can be processed."
Casepak Chairman George Smith adds, "We've been recycling plastics now for the last decade and developing a MRF with full multi-material capacity was the natural next step."
The system incorporates the latest in patented screening, air and optical sorting technology designed to maximize the recovery and purity of secondary commodities and to minimize waste, BHS says. The system will process mixed collections of paper, cardboard, plastic, metal and glass, recovering 95 percent or more of the material processed, BHS says.
The system features patented BHS screens, including the enhanced BHS de-inking screen, a mixed fiber optical unit, a film handling system and a full optical container line for plastics recovery, according to BHS.
BHS is a supplier of processing systems for the solid waste, recycling, wood products/compost and waste-to-energy industries. More information is available at www.bulkhandlingsystems.com.
Sennebogen Recognizes Dealers of the Year
Sennebogen LLC, Stanley, N.C., recently recognized its three top-selling distributors for 2010. According to Sennebogen, all three faced the challenges of the year's difficult economy and succeeded by putting a personal face to their machinery lines.
The three sales leaders include Top Lift Enterprises of Stoney Creek, Ontario, Gibson Machinery of Cleveland and Tracey Road Equipment of Syracuse, N.Y.
At Top Lift Enterprises, Managing Director David Shea re-organized the business to deliver more focused expertise to the company's customers. Top Lift represents Sennebogen throughout the central region of southern Ontario and southern Quebec as well as the Vancouver territory.
Shea segregated the primary equipment lines to create a specialized heavy industrial unit representing several manufacturers of material handling equipment. To support his customers in recycling, manufacturing and port operations, he also added three people to the company's staff who \ have more than 63 years of industrial sales experience combined.
Gibson Machinery has ranked in Sennebogen's top dealers list for each of the past eight years.
Jerry Tracey, president of Tracey Road Equipment, remapped his sales territories to give each representative a smaller territory to cover. "I want them to have less windshield time and more face time," Tracey explains. "Our guys are becoming the equipment managers for many of their clients. We know that our customers are great at what they do; we just want to help them make sure they get the best equipment for the jobs they have to do."
Constantino Lannes, president of Sennebogen, says the quality of personal service from his company's distributor network has been an essential ingredient in the manufacturer's rapid growth throughout the past 10 years. More information is available at www.sennebogen-na.com.
Michigan CAT joins Exodus distributor network
Michigan Cat, Novi, Mich., has been named the exclusive authorized distributor of Exodus wheeled material handlers in Michigan's Lower Peninsula. According to Michigan CAT, the agreement fulfills a need for both organizations, as Michigan CAT was seeking purpose-built machines for industrial customers and Exodus was looking for a dealer who could provide product support and had experience servicing the scrap and recycling industries.
Terry Erickson, Michigan CAT sales manager, says the agreement should provide customers with the opportunity to enjoy greater productivity and profitability within a market segment that remains a vital component of Michigan's recovery.
Exodus, based in Superior, Wis., currently offers a model in the 100,000-pound class, with a larger 125,000-pound machine to be available in late 2011. More information is available at www.exodusmachines.com.
