1. Caterpillar material handlers. New from Caterpillar, Peoria, Illinois, are the MH3022 and MH3024 material handlers, the smallest models in the company’s new line of wheeled material handlers in the greater-than-20-ton class. According to Caterpillar, the material handlers offer these features:

  • choice of dedicated front linkages, tools, guards and undercarriages
  • U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final/EU Stage IV-compliant Cat C7.1 ACERTTM engines, rated at 169 horsepower, reduce fuel consumption
  • operating weights of 22.7 metric tons and 25.7 metric tons
  • emissions technologies include the Cat NOx-reduction system

2. CB&E jam-release two-ram baler. New from Catawba Baler & Equipment (CB&E), Greensboro, North Carolina, is the “Free Jam” two-ram baler, offering these features, the company says:

  • patent-pending technology virtually eliminates the need for a person to manually clear jams
  • automatic, push-button jam-release technology
  • reduces downtime and offers increased workforce efficiency
  • jams can be cleared in as little as five minutes
  • reduces saftey-related risks
  • provides easy and safe maintenance access

3. Northshore 2100-SE excavator. Northshore Manufacturing, a Two Harbors, Minnesota-based, manufacturer of the Builtrite line of products, has introduced the Builtrite Model 2100-SE for dismantling automobiles. The excavator offers these features, according to the company: • combines Northshore’s stationary electric material handler/excavator and its auto dismantling system to recover nonferrous metals from end-of-life vehicles

  • capable of processing an average of six to 10 vehicles per hour
  • uses on average 35 kilowatts per hour
  • high-efficiency, 75-horsepower Baldor industrial electric motor
  • quiet stationary electric machine creates no emissions
  • cab, designed for operator comfort, features large windows

4. Terex Fuchs MHL360 F HD material handler. New from Terex Fuchs, Southaven, Mississippi, is the MHL360 F HD material handler, offering these features, the company says:

  • six-cylinder, 255-horsepower turbo-charged engine meets Tier 4 Final emissions standards
  • three engine operating modes: Power, ECO and ECO Plus
  • programmable automatic engine shut-off and auto idling
  • oversized undercarriage increases operating weight, which ranges from 48 tons to 53.8 tons, depending on configuration
  • a variety of boom/stick configurations
