NRT names sales manager
National Recovery Technologies (NRT), based in Nashville, has named Thiru Ilanchelian its new sales manager. He will report directly to Matthias Erdmannsdoerfer, NRT president. In his role, Ilanchelian will guide NRT’s global sales and marketing functions.
NRT provides optical sorting equipment for various industries, including material recovery facilities, secondary plastics, electronic scrap and mineral separation.
“This is the next step for NRT as we continue to grow,” says Erdmannsdoerfer.

Previously Ilanchelian served as business development manager at Magotteaux Inc.’s North American Cement and Utilities division.
DJJ announces promotion
The David J. Joseph Co. (DJJ), based in Cincinnati, has promoted David Steigerwald to the position of executive vice president of finance for DJJ and general manager of Nucor, Charlotte, N.C. He succeeds Jim Goetz, who retired Dec. 31, 2013, after 31 years with the company.
Steigerwald joined DJJ in 1998 and has held various financial roles in the corporate and brokerage groups before moving to Salt Lake City in 2002 as vice president of finance for Western Metals Recycling. In 2008, he returned to Cincinnati when he was promoted to vice president of finance for DJJ’s Recycling Group.
DJJ, which operates 15 domestic and international ferrous and nonferrous scrap brokerage offices, employs more than 2,100 people. Additionally, DJJ operates nine self-serve used auto parts stores and six regional scrap recycling companies across the U.S., which include a network of nearly 70 facilities.
IMS Electronics appoints director of compliance
IMS Electronics Recycling, an electronics recycling firm headquartered in Poway, Calif., has named Robert Benavent its director of compliance. Benavent previously served as senior engineer for Sony Electronics’ corporate environmental, health and safety department.
At Sony, Benavent managed national e-waste compliance, including vendor auditing, volume tracking and contract review. He also led ISO compliance at various sites during his five-and-a-half-year tenure with Sony.
IMS Electronics Recycling, a division of the IMS Group, handles a variety of electronics, such as computers, televisions and telecommunications systems, and also assists businesses with IT asset management and data destruction. The company provides national coverage and has facilities in California, Georgia, Washington and Ohio.
Vecoplan LLC names electrical service manager
Vecoplann LLC, Arcdale, N.C., has promoted Andrew (Jordon) Schreiner II to electrical service manager. Vecoplan is a manufacturer of shredding machinery for recycling and mechanical feedstock processing systems for alternative energy applications.
Schreiner will oversee all aspects of electrical service on Vecoplan controls and control systems throughout North America, the company says. His responsibilities include providing troubleshooting services to customers and service technicians in the field via the phone and Internet. Schreiner also will oversee organization and scheduling of Vecoplan’s network of certified service personnel throughout North America.
Formerly electrical department supervisor at Vecoplan, Schreiner has more than 15 years of practical experience in the supervision of personnel in electrical production and maintenance for the industrial sector, Vecoplan says.
“With our continued sales growth, the volume and sophistication of control panels and integrated control systems that we have in the field has increased dramatically and so has our need for senior level service support,” says Bill Davison, vice president of operations at Vecoplan. “Over the last decade, Jordon has proven his leadership abilities, and his unique skill set will be a real asset as we continue to strive to provide the best service in the industry.”
Severstal NA appoints director of scrap and metallics procurement
Severstal North America, a Dearborn, Mich.-based steel producer, has named Sanjeev Badola to the position of director of scrap and metallics procurement. He will be based in Dearborn.
In his new position, Badola will direct the company’s strategy of procuring metallics and scrap metal. He will report to Gerrit Reepmeyer, Severstal vice president of procurement.
“I am honored to welcome Sanjeev to the Severstal team,” Reepmeyer says. “His profound background and knowledge of international metallics trading will be a tremendous asset for our company.”
Prior to joining Severstal, Badola served as the worldwide trading manager of raw materials for trading company Starglobe. In that position he handled a $400 million portfolio of pig iron, hot briquetted iron and iron ore trades. He also worked with Carbofer, where he traded pig iron.
American Baler adds to management team
Tade Mahoney, director of sales and marketing for American Baler Co., Bellevue, Ohio, has announced that Jim Wolfe has been named engineering and customer service manager.
Wolfe brings an extensive technical and managerial background that will allow American Baler to develop innovations and to provide top-tier customer service, the company says.
“Our goal is to build the best baler in the industry with the best warranty and the best customer service, and Jim will be on the cutting edge of that ongoing effort,” Mahoney says.
