2. Bace SmartBaler System. New from BACE, Charlotte, North Carolina, is the SmartBaler System for baling applications, providing these benefits, according to BACE:
- combines a digital scale with business intelligence software to weigh baler contents and transmit relevant data to managers
- can be used with most balers, including vertical balers
- tracks bale weight as each bale is ejected from the baler
- notifies recyclers when bales are ready for pick up, which can reduce fuel costs, exhaust emissions, travel time and insurance costs

3. Vecoplan HydroDyn washing technology. New from Vecoplan, with U.S. offices in Archdale, North Carolina, is HydroDyn washing technology for recycled plastics, offering these capabilities, the company says:
- combines shredding, washing and drying in a closed process
- washing system allows purification of shredded, heavily soiled materials, such as film and packaging plastics
- high-purity output can be added as regrind to secondary processes
- generates energy via friction for unprecedented energy efficiency
- washing process does not require chemicals such as sodium hydroxide

4. Untha XR3000 preshredder. New from Untha Shredding Technology GmbH of Germany is the XR3000 heavy-duty preshredder, an upgrade from the previous model, the XR2000. The new model offers these features, the company says:

- energy efficient, requiring less than 4 kilowatt hours per metric ton
