Sims Metal Management names US central region president
Sims Metal Management Ltd. (SMS), headquartered in New York City and in Sydney, has announced that Tobin Pospisil has joined the company as president of SMM North American Metals, central region. His territory will cover the midwestern, southern and southwestern regions of the United States.
SMS is a global scrap recycling company with more than 250 facilities throughout the world.
The addition of Pospisil completes the restructuring of the company’s North American Metals business into three separate regions, with all three divisions reporting to Group CEO Galdino Claro.
Joe Payesko serves as SMM North American Metals East region president, and Steve Shinn serves as the company’s West region president.
Prior to joining SMS, Pospisil served as president of Gallatin Steel Co., a flat products minimill in Ghent, Kentucky, that is a venture between ArcelorMittal and Gerdau.
“Tobin is an experienced steel executive with deep connections with steel mills, particularly in the central United States,” says Claro. “As we highlighted in our five-year strategic plan, enhancing our connectivity with domestic steel mills is a key objective and critical to the success of our central region.
Harris Waste Management Group names new vice president
The equipment company Harris Waste Management Group Inc., based in Cordele, Georgia, has named Mark Haire vice president of its Integrated Recycling Systems (IRS) division.
IRS’ main focus is on engineered projects, not only for the Harris line of products but also for ferrous and nonferrous processing systems design and supply.
The IRS group includes experienced material handling and processing, controls automation, project management and service personnel to ensure Harris supplies the best processing system solutions, the company says. Haire has been with the company since 2009 and was previously engineering manager for Harris’ shredder division.
“I’m looking forward to working with Harris customers to find solutions to their processing needs in order to help them make their operations more efficient and profitable,” Haire says.
Harris also has appointed Scott Holder to the position of director of shredder sales. He previously was a regional sales manager for Harris.
In addition, Jim Summers has joined Harris’ service staff as a shredder specialist. Summers, formerly an operations manager at Midwest Scrap Management, based in Kansas City, Missouri, has experience in shredder systems.
Kripke announces promotions
Kripke Enterprises Inc. (KEI), a nonferrous metal brokerage based in Toledo, Ohio, has announced the promotion of three new vice presidents.
Andy Golding of Toledo has been promoted to vice president of sales and marketing; Marvin Finkelstein of Boca Raton, Florida, has been promoted to vice president of the southern region; and Chad Kripke of Toledo has been promoted to vice president of the northern region.
“Marvin, Andy and Chad drive our vision and create high value for our scrap dealers and consuming aluminum mills,” says Matt Kripke, president of KEI. “Their combined 50 years of industry experience supports our company growth while generating winning outcomes for our customers.”
Founded in 1993, KEI has locations in Toledo and Boca Raton. KEI says its sales topped $140 million in 2014.
BIR forms Exhibitors Committee
The Bureau of International Recycling (BIR), Brussels, has announced the creation of a special committee for companies exhibiting at BIR conventions.
The Exhibitors Committee will serve BIR members who plan to exhibit products and services at BIR events, according to the association.
Rolf Gren of Germany-based Pallmann Group has been appointed chairman of the committee and will be in direct contact with the BIR Convention Committee, where he also will hold a representative seat, the organization says.
Gren has held senior positions in the Swedish Electrolux Group and for the last eight years has worked in the recycling industry. Currently, he is serving as senior executive vice president for the Pallmann Group as well as general manager of Pallmann Industries based in Clifton, New Jersey. Gren is also involved in the group’s China business as president of Pallmann Co. in Beijing.
Integra adds telecom executive to staff
Integra Asset Management, which provides technology and product life cycle solutions from design through procurement, installation, decommissioning and recycling, has announced that Herbert Groiss has joined the company as senior vice president of telecommunications.
Integra says Groiss will lead its operations and sales divisions as the company positions itself for significant growth.
“Our forecast for explosive growth this year dictates that we bring in an outstanding executive to complement our existing leadership, and we’re delighted to have Herbert on board,” says Robert Steward, president of Integra. “He gives us visibility into high-level enterprises and will continue his relationships to fuel even more growth for our company.”
Groiss will help Integra assimilate its new project management system into existing projects and help refine processes for other company operations.
