BinMaster Flow Detect 2000 sensors.
Lincoln, Nebraska-based BinMaster’s Flow Detect 2000 sensor has been certified for use in ATEX Zone 21 areas, meaning it can be used in environments in which dust can become flammable because of the materials involved in a process. The Flow Detect 2000 can be used in aggregate mixing applications, as well as material recovery facilities (MRFs). The sensors:
- use Doppler technology and are approved for North American CSA/US Class II, Division 1 Groups E, F and G, as well as European Union ATEX Zone 21 hazardous location standards
- can detect flow conditions in gravity chutes, feeders, pipelines, conveyor belts or bucket elevators
- can help MRF operators regulate burden depth on conveyors during the sorting process
- are compact and weigh 5 pounds
- include a sensing element, power and output connections and user adjustment controls in a single National Electrical Manufacturer Association (NEMA) 4X enclosure
- prevent downtime caused by blockages, conveyors running empty or overflowing, no material flow to and from a process or loose slide gates that cause production loss and equipment failure

Herbold Meckesheim USA density separation tanks.
North Smithfield, Rhode Island-based Herbold Meckesheim USA is offering density separation tanks, also known as sink-swim tanks, that use water to separate plastic scrap from different densities as well as to separate contaminants from homogenous plastics. The firm’s new density separation tanks:
- allow items to be introduced to the steel sink-swim tanks by a feeding screw or conveyor at one end, then are moved via three or four transport drums (rotating paddles)
- ensure lighter plastics exit the tank via a top discharge setup, while heavier items continuously are removed by a scraping chain conveyor mounted below the bottom of the tank
- provide a V-shaped bottom designed to help ensure sinking scrap or waste can be exited from the bottom without accumulation or buildup
- are available in sizes that include 78 inches by 31 inches up to 157 inches by 71 inches
- have drive motors available in a range of horsepower from 1.5 horsepower up to 15 hp
