Tomra Autosort Pulse.
The Recycling Sorting business unit of Norway-based Tomra has introduced Autosort Pulse as a sensor-based sorting technology for the recycling industry. The Autosort Pulse features laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy technology to enable high-precision sorting of aluminum scrap by alloy type. Autosort Pulse:
- has 3D object scanning, which detects each object regardless of size and surface, while multiple single-point scans enable sharper detection of materials in any condition
- can separate overlapping and adjacent objects accurately because of its artificial intelligence-based object singulation feature
- features a bulk infeed system and a processing capacity of between 3 tons to 7 tons per hour
- has a relatively compact footprint that integrates an extensive set of advanced technologies and a conveyor belt

PACT Thermo Shield.
Watertown, Connecticut-based PACT LLC says its new product, PACT Thermo Shield, has been designed to control lithium battery thermal runaway, which causes fires. The paper-based PACT Thermo Shield:
- is capable of containing temperatures up to nearly 1,500 F while restricting the temperature outside of the wrap to 140 F
- provides a method to ship or transport end-of-life products or batteries safely to a battery recycler
- has passed proposed Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) International testing standards for safety in shipping lithium-ion batteries via land, sea and air
- is 100 percent recyclable
