LBX Co. LCG series contractor handling grapple

Lexington, Kentucky-based LBX Co. has launched the Link-Belt LCG series contractor handling grapples, designed for scrap handling, construction and demolition sorting and bulk material handling. The LCG contractor grapple:

  • is available with perforated or heavy-duty ribbed tines
  • offers maximum crushing force to densify material, while the rotation system is designed to resist back-driving forces
  • is available in three models
  • features a single cylinder with dual drag links to minimize the number of moving parts and simplify the hydraulic system
  • features a streamlined tine, frame and linkage design with easy-to-locate grease fittings for simplified maintenance

Cat MH3040 wheeled material handler

Caterpillar, Peoria, Illinois, has released its MH3040 wheeled material handler, an update on the company’s M325D L MH model, which debuted in 2015. Features of the MH3040 include:

  • a maximum 50.8-foot reach, with multiple configurations available
  • a range of work tool attachments in different sizes
  • boom sticks and other high-stress areas are equipped with thick multi-plate fabrications, castings and forgings to withstand applications in scrap yard and mill operations
  • specially designed mountings on the upper frame support the heavy-duty cab
  • a 151-kilowatt Cat C7.1 engine that meets Tier 4 Final emission standards

Olympus Vanta Element-S XRF analyzer

Waltham, Massachusetts-based Olympus has introduced the Vanta Element-S hand-held X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzer, which it says delivers fast light element detection at an affordable price. Olympus says the S model:

  • is equipped with a silicon drift detector (SDD) to analyze light elements, such as magnesium (Mg), aluminum (Al), silicon (Si), sulfur and phosphorus, in alloys
  • is ideal for scrap recycling, basic positive material identification, metal manufacturing and precious metals
  • offers clear on-screen grade identification and comparison for the light elements Mg, Al and Si
  • features an SDD that can distinguish among similar alloy grades
  • is powered by Olympus’ Axon Technology for high-count rate and stability
