TOMRA Autosort Laser
Wedel, Germany-based TOMRA Sorting Recycling has introduced the Autosort Laser, which it says can separate glass, ceramics, stones, metals and plastics from municipal solid waste (MSW) and commercial material. According to TOMRA, it features:
- a sensor combination capable of detecting more material properties at the same point simultaneously to sort more efficiently
- the ability to separate thin, thick or opaque glass from MSW
- an independent background system designed to ensure sorting stability

SP Industries single-cylinder Precrusher Series
Hopkins, Michigan-based SP Industries has introduced the PC-3001, PC-4001 and PC-6001 Precrusher Series for manufacturing and processing facilities that don’t require the heavy-duty compacting equipment the company offers. This new series features the same footprint and processing controls as the company’s max-duty heavy-industrial models with a more economical single-cylinder design tailored to lighter-duty waste streams with lower compaction force requirements, SP says. The series:
- is designed for lower-volume industrial and smaller product destruction applications
- can program up to eight precrush cycles to enable maximum breakdown of materials that are difficult to compact
- is offered with 3-, 4- or 6-cubic-yard capacities
- can be operated in either precrusher or compactor-only mode

Herbold HVT series centrifugal dryers
HVT series centrifugal dryers from Herbold USA, Smithfield, Rhode Island, provide energy-saving drying of regrind, especially hollow bodies, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles, polyolefins and other plastics, the company says. The HVT series:
- features a vertical rotor shaft, which ensures longer dwell time in the drying chamber
- operates on the principle of centrifugal drying, where material is accelerated against a screened stator surface and simultaneously transported from bottom to top by rotor paddles
- is fed via a horizontal drainage screw, which eliminates most of the surface moisture before material enters the dryer
