Volvo EC260 and EC300 excavators

As part of its newest generation of excavators, Shippensburg, Pennsylvania-based Volvo Construction Equipment is offering two midsize crawler excavator models in North America. The EC260 replaces the EC250 in Volvo’s lineup, and the EC300 is an update of the previous series’ model. The excavators:

  • feature up to 15 percent greater fuel efficiency, increased productivity, enhanced safety and several cab upgrades
  • are equipped with an optimized electrohydraulic system, a smart cooling system and engine speed regulation that can contribute to up to 15 percent better fuel efficiency
  • include a new “creep” travel mode coupled with a boom and arm shock reduction designed to reduce spillage and add safety
  • use the Volvo Smart View with Obstacle Detection feature, giving operators 360-degree visibility of the machines’ surroundings and the ability to distinguish between objects and humans
  • offer a 50 percent increase in hydraulic oil life with service intervals extended to 3,000 hours for regular hydraulic oil and 6,000 hours for long-life hydraulic oil
  • have an updated seat, a larger heated side mirror and additional lights, sunscreens and storage areas in the cab

Thermal Dynamics Cutmaster plasma cutting systems

The Thermal Dynamics brand of North Bethesda, Maryland-based ESAB offers the Cutmaster 50+ and Cutmaster 70+ manual plasma cutting systems. The devices are designed to provide portability, protection and convenient cable organization. According to ESAB:

  • the Cutmaster 50+ has a recommended pierce-and-cut capacity of 5/8 inches, severs metal up to 1 ¼ inches thick, has a rated cutting output of 50 amps at 60 percent duty cycle and weighs 35.3 pounds
  • the Cutmaster 70+ has a recommended pierce-and-cut capacity of ¾ of an inch, severs metal up to 1 ½ inches, has a rated cutting output of 70 amps at 60 percent duty cycle and weighs 35.3 pounds
  • both systems offer straight-line cutting and gouging applications that can be controlled with a start/stop switch, as well as a 15-foot cable
  • the systems’ housings have been designed to handle rugged environments, making them suitable for numerous applications
  • the machines offer a built-in 14-pin circuit protective conductor port for easy computer numerical control mechanization

KBlock Tools Aqua Blaster

South Carolina-based KBlock Tools LLC offers its Aqua Blaster fire hose carrier, an ergonomically friendly way for workers or firefighters to address fire- or dust-related problems on a jobsite. The Aqua Blaster, manufactured by Custom Elite Manufacturing LLC in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin:

  • is designed to allow a single employee to address a dust suppression task on a jobsite
  • has been constructed and equipped to deliver water, foam and other fire and dust suppression agents used in such applications
  • consists of a harness frame and fire hose combination that allows a charged fire hose to be operated and managed with minimal stress on the back and joints of its user
  • has a dual discharge continuous elbow swivel flow that is attached the opposite ends of a pipe or tube mounted on the belly plate
  • features threads on the elbow swivels designed to adapt and accommodate a variety of firefighting adapters and fire nozzles that are widely accessible
