Metso Outotec Index data collection tool
The Metal Recycling business of Metso Outotec, headquartered in Helsinki, has released Index, an online operating and production data collection tool. Index:
- transfers relevant data from the recycling machine directly to the customer’s equipment
- increases machine productivity by identifying limiting parameters at an early stage
- is accessible via a mobile app or from the dashboard
- provides data on capacity utilization, the material being processed, operating hours and the general condition of the machinery
- enables equipment data to be visualized, displayed and analyzed in the Index web portal and, if necessary, transferred to programs and systems designed for controlling purposes
- is available with Lindemann EtaCut II, EtaCut, PowerCut/LUC and PowerCut Wings/LIS and LU shears or for retrofits

Goudsmit Magnetic Separator for Lithium-Ion Battery Powder
Goudsmit Magnetics of Waalre, the Netherlands, has introduced a rotating magnetic separator designed for the ferrous-metal-free processing of lithium-ion powder. The magnetic separator:
- is self-cleaning
- filters metal particles as small as 30 micrometers from lithium-ion powder
- contains nine pneumatically operated rotating magnetic bars that prevent the fine powder from sticking
- features a deep catch field to capture paramagnetic particles, such as iron oxide and stainless steel, in addition to iron particles
- features a valve box that removes the captured metal particles

Untha America two-shaft ZR shredder series
Untha America, Hampton, New Hampshire, has released a two-shaft shredder, the ZR, engineered for multishift, continuous preshredding. Its debut follows 24 months of research and development, including prototype trials in Europe. The ZR shredder series features:
- a low-speed, high-torque drive that can handle severe-duty applications with a high level of shredder availability
- a modular, quick-change cutting table design that offers versatility
- the ZR2400H, which is engineered for high throughput when shredding a variety of bulky material, commercial and industrial material, wood scrap, municipal solid waste, mattresses, carpets, railroad ties, bales and rolled goods, and the ZR2400W, which is designed to process metal scrap shredding and processing e-scrap and large domestic appliances prior to downstream sorting
- independent, bidirectional shaft rotation to grab, shear and liberate material in forward and reverse
- the Untha Eco Power Drive with water-cooled synchronous motors, which the company says can reduce energy consumption by up to 75 percent
