BHS Names Midwest Regional Sales Manager

Bulk Handling Systems (BHS), Eugene, Ore., has named Phil Hughes as its Midwest regional sales manager.

Hughes works closely with customers to provide system solutions, promoting BHS’s full line of material sorting and handling equipment for the solid waste and recycling industries, including optical and air separation components.

He has more than 20 years of experience, which includes plant flow design and system layouts in the aggregate industry in the Midwest.

Coslov to Retire at Tube City IMS

, chairman and chief executive officer of Tube City IMS LLC, is retiring after more than 48 years with the company. Tube City IMS is a global provider of products and services to steel mills and foundries, including scrap and scrap management services.

Coslov, 67, will remain as CEO while the company’s board of directors conducts a search for his replacement, according to a Tube City IMS news release. He will remain on the board of directors as non-executive chairman after his replacement takes office.

"I will miss my day-to-day involvement with Tube City IMS a great deal, but what I’ll miss the most are the relationships with all of our customers and our teammates," Coslov says. "It’s been a great ride for the past 48 years, but it’s time to move on to a new chapter in my life. I look forward to a greater emphasis on family and community while remaining involved with Tube City IMS through the board."

Coslov began his career with Tube City IMS in 1965 and helped to guide the company from a $60 million-per-year scrap processor to a $3 billion provider of a wide range of outsourced steel services, including raw materials procurement, scrap management, raw materials optimization, slag processing, metal recovery and surface conditioning services

He has held various leadership positions with the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc. (ISRI), Washington, D.C., including two terms as an elected board member and chairman of the Domestic Trade and the Convention committees.

Coslov also has been honored as Businessman of the Year by the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation and in 2006 was named Entrepreneur of the Year in the Industrial Products and Services category by Ernst & Young’s Upstate New York/Western Pennsylvania division.

CRI Names New Executive Director

The Container Recycling Institute (CRI), Glastonbury, Conn., has appointed Susan V. Collins as its new executive director. Collins joins CRI after 20 years of advising municipalities on municipal solid waste and recycling programs and sustainability issues.

"This is an exciting time for the Container Recycling Institute, as we work toward finding new solutions to increase and improve beverage container recycling," says Tex Corley, chair of CRI’s board and president and CEO of Houston-based Strategic Materials Inc. "Susan’s leadership and background will drive container recycling solutions that will build both a more sustainable environment and a more sustainable economy. There’s never been a greater need for recycling, now is the time to act."

One of Collins’ first acts as executive director was to offer CRI’s expertise to Delaware Gov. Markell as he began the process of revamping its recycling program.

"CRI’s potent national network of recycling professionals is a primary reason I joined CRI. I’m excited to conduct new research and re-frame thinking on container recycling systems," says Collins. "I’m passionate about recycling’s role in achieving sustainability, and I’m excited to conduct new research and reframe thinking on container recycling systems."

In Memoriam: Robert Eichmeyer

Eichmeyer was vice president and then CEO with auto dismantling and scrap processing companies Empire Engines and Weissman Industries (also known as Weissman Iron & Metal) from 1963 until his retirement in 1982.

The Weissman scrap processing facility in Waterloo was subsequently purchased by Recycling Industries Inc. in the 1990s and then St. Louis-based Alter Trading in 2001.

Eichmeyer is survived by his wife Darlyne, two sons, one daughter, 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

, former CEO of Empire Engines and Weissman Industries in Waterloo, Iowa, has died at the age of 85.

Round2 Adds to Executive Staff

Round2 Inc., Austin, Texas, has announced the expansion of its executive leadership team with the addition of Mark Chazanow as COO and Tanya Putnam as CFO.
