ISRI names 2016 Lifetime Achievement award recipients
The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI), Washington, recognized two scrap industry veterans with Lifetime Achievement awards during the association’s 2016 Convention & Exposition, April 2-7, at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.
Stanton Moss, founder of Philadelphia-based Stanton A. Moss Inc., and Manny Bodner of Bodner Metal & Iron Corp., Houston, were recognized by the association for their leadership in the recycling industry and commitment to ISRI.
“Manny has been the force behind the industry’s efforts to promote the concept of design for recycling among manufacturers,” ISRI President Robin Wiener says. “Encouraging design for recycling has been a top priority for ISRI, and there has been no stronger advocate than Manny. He leaves a strong legacy of not only making many more products easier to recycle but to be done so in a safer manner for recycling workers. He has a lasting impact on this industry of which he is to be proud.”
Bodner graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1969 and joined his family’s company, Bodner Metal & Iron Corp. He was named president in 1995 and retired from that position in March of this year.
Bodner served in a number of leadership roles with ISRI at the national and chapter levels and is currently chairman of the Design for Recycling Task Force.
Moss began his career in metal recycling in the 1960s at his father-in-law’s company, George Stall Metals, after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. He was general manager of the company when it was liquidated in 1973. In 1974 Moss started a nonferrous brokerage firm specializing in aluminum, Stanton A Moss Inc.
He has served ISRI in various roles and won the Phoenix award from the ISRI Mid-Atlantic chapter in 2001.
“Stanton Moss has been a fixture in the recycling industry for nearly 50 years,” Weiner says. “His sincerity and commitment to the betterment of the recycling industry have been steadfast for decades.”
