Vecoplan appoints director to board
Germany-based Vecoplan AG appointed Michael Lambert to its management board, effective April 1.
Lambert has been responsible for the company’s commercial operations since 2014 and is manager of its European subsidiaries. In this capacity, he supports Werner Berens, CEO of Vecoplan, and oversees Vecoplan’s divisions and supply chain activities.
Lambert has held a number of management positions. In 2008, he assumed the post of commercial director in the Saar-Gummi Group, and in 2011 he became manager of the group’s nonautomotive business. In January 2014, Lambert came to Vecoplan, where he was appointed chief financial officer and worked closely with Berens to reposition the Vecoplan Group and place it on a sound footing, the company says.
“The appointment of Michael Lambert to the management board of Vecoplan AG was the logical consequence of his dedication and performance,” says Andreas Krause, chairman of Vecoplan’s supervisory board. “With this strong, well-coordinated pair at the helm, Vecoplan AG is well-prepared for further expansion.”
Novelis shuffles executive leadership
Novelis Inc., headquartered in Atlanta, has announced changes to its executive leadership team.
Tadeu Nardocci, previously senior vice president and president, Novelis South America, São Paulo, has been promoted to senior vice president and chief manufacturing officer. He now leads Novelis’ global manufacturing excellence function and Manufacturing Council and is responsible for executing global manufacturing standards and practices and overseeing development of the operations and technical talent pipeline across Novelis. Nardocci reports to Novelis President and CEO Steve Fisher.
He assumes the manufacturing excellence responsibilities from Nick Madden, senior vice president of manufacturing excellence, who plans to retire in September after more than 40 years in the aluminum industry.
Francisco Pires, previously chief operating officer, Novelis South America, succeeds Nardocci in the role of president, Novelis South America. In this position, Pires is responsible for providing strategic leadership to the region and for its financial and operational performance. He continues to report to Nardocci and remains based in São Paulo.

Republic Services appoints company president, COO
Republic Services Inc. of Phoenix has promoted Jon Vander Ark to the role of president of the company. As president, Vander Ark is responsible for the company’s ongoing transformation and growth, Republic says. He oversees operations, sales, marketing and business development and continues reporting to Don Slager, the chief executive officer. Prior to Vander Ark’s appointment as president, Slager served as both president and CEO of the company.
Vander Ark was promoted from his role as chief operating officer (COO), where he developed greater rigor around safety, fleet readiness, labor effectiveness and route optimization, Republic Services says. He joined the company in January 2013 as executive vice president (EVP) and chief marketing officer, responsible for advancing the company’s brand. In 2016, Vander Ark assumed the role of EVP of operations, overseeing performance and financial results across the field organization.
Prior to working for Republic, he served as a partner at McKinsey & Co.’s Detroit office, managing clients across a variety of industries.
Tim Stuart will succeed Vander Ark as COO. Starting as operations supervisor, Stuart has worked nearly 25 years in the industry, Republic says. He joined the company in 2006 as director of operations and has since held roles of increasing responsibility, including area president, vice president of customer experience, region vice president, region president and, most recently, EVP of operations.
Republic says Stuart pioneered the company’s customer experience efforts by implementing service commitment methodologies and metrics, along with the use of Net Promoter Score as a key customer insight tool.
As COO, Stuart is responsible for continuing to operationalize the company’s strategy and execute its business plan across field operations. In addition to leading the general management organization, he has functional responsibility for safety, operations effectiveness, engineering, environmental compliance and fleet management, Republic says. Stuart continues reporting to Vander Ark.
“We’ve built a high-caliber executive leadership team through a commitment to leveraging composite strength and creating deliberate development plans for our people,” Slager says. “Both Jon and Tim work effectively together and have delivered sustainable results for our customers and shareholders. They have built strong teams and remain focused on making Republic a place where the best people come to work.”
