Steinert US names new president / CEO

Walton, Kentucky-based Steinert US, which provides sorting and separation technology for the mining, industrial/municipal scrap metals, plastics and recycling markets, has named Andreas W. Ernst as its president and CEO.

Ernst has more than 20 years of experience in the global capital equipment and machinery industry, having spent much of his career with Sennebogen LLC. His expertise focuses on developing and leveraging strategic relationships across markets and regions to drive sales, marketing and servicing strategies, Steinert US says in a news release announcing Ernst’s appointment.

Republic Services adds board member

Republic Services Inc., Phoenix, has announced that Katharine Weymouth has been appointed to its board of directors. Weymouth, who will serve on the Audit Committee as well as on the Management Development and Compensation Committee, is an executive with experience spanning several industries. Her appointment brings the board of directors to a total of 12 people.

Weymouth is currently CEO of dineXpert, a group-buying organization that works with independent restaurants. Previously, she held numerous leadership positions at The Washington Post, including publisher and CEO, from 2008 through 2014.

“Katharine led the transformation of an internationally recognized media brand, taking it from a predominantly print newspaper business to a 24-hour, digital content business. Her expertise in leveraging a broad base of digital platforms to reach consumers and innovating through a startup business will add tremendous value to our board,” Republic Services President and CEO Donald Slager says.

Waste Pro appoints divisional vice president

Waste Pro USA, heaadquartered in Longwood, Florida, has appointed Chip Gingles to serve as its divisional vice president for North Carolina. He previously served as director of solid waste for Buncombe County, North Carolina.

Gingles has nearly 20 years of management experience. He joined Waste Pro in 2015 as division manager of its facility in Asheville, North Carolina, where he managed 60 employees. The facility serviced more than 38,000 customers.

“When I first met Chip, I clearly saw a leader,” says John Jennings, Waste Pro USA CEO and chairman. “I am looking forward confidently to see the continued results of Chip’s leadership in the dynamic North Carolina marketplace.”

Gingles joined Buncombe County as director of solid waste in 2017, where he gained valuable experience in the public sector and developed an understanding of the government perspective and process regarding waste and recycling services, Waste Pro says in the news release announcing his promotion.
