MODRoto appoints regional sales manager

Recycling cart manufacturer MODRoto, Madison, Indiana, has named Anthony Joyner regional sales manager.

Covering the Mid-South territory of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and New Mexico, Joyner offers material handling products and logistics support services for scrap processors, municipalities, construction and demolition firms and other recycling companies. Featuring Poly-Trux recycling carts, Ship Shape bulk containers and a variety of proprietary product innovations, Joyner joins a growing sales team that also provides a high level of customer service, including on-site guidance and support at customer facilities throughout North America, the company says.

A veteran of the United States Army now serving in the United States Army Reserve, Joyner brings a long list of achievements in logistics, planning and implementation to the company, along with a record of success with increasing levels of responsibility.

“Joyner has been all about service first for a very long time, so he already understands why we put customer service as the first priority,” says National Sales Manager Dan Rodriguez.

Joyner earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Delaware State University and a Master of Science in environmental management from Webster University. He resides in Austin, Texas.

Metso Metal Recycling Americas appoints shear/baler wear and spare parts specialist

Vicki Fenton has been appointed to the new position of hub product specialist for shear/baler wear and spare parts at Metso Metal Recycling Americas, based in San Antonio.

In her new role, Fenton will be responsible for defining market area strategic product planning, development and sales and for marketing support. She will manage various product categories throughout the products’ life cycles, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision and working closely with engineering. Fenton will drive growth and profitability by acting as a primary advocate for the products in North America, Metso says.

In memoriam: Fred Monteleone

George Chen, president of the New Jersey Paper Recycling Association (NJPRA), has announced Fred Monteleone, president of N&V International, Orangeburg, New York, died Oct. 5. He was 78.

Monteleone was “a great leader in the paper recycling industry and longtime member of New Jersey Paper Recycling Association,” Chen says.

“We are in pain about this big loss,” he adds.

The funeral arrangements were held Oct. 9 at the Pizzi Funeral Home in Northvale, New Jersey. Services occurred the next day at St. Catharine of Alexandria Parish in Blauvelt, New York. Burial followed at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale.

In memoriam: Maurice “Mort” J. Ockenfels

Maurice “Mort” John Ockenfels Sr. died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, at age 92, surrounded by his family. He and his wife, Marcy, founded City Carton Recycling Co., which was headquartered in Iowa City, Iowa, in 1967. They operated the company for 25 years before retiring and selling the business to their children in 1990.

City Carton was the largest recycling company in Iowa before being acquired by Republic Services of Phoenix in January of 2015.

Ockenfels was born June 21, 1925, in Walford, Iowa, the son of John and Lillian Delaney Ockenfels. He was a graduate of Hartwick High School in Iowa. From 1947 to 1952, he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Ockenfels married Marcy Barker Nov. 29, 1949, at Hamilton Air Force Base in California.

In 1958, Ockenfels and his brother operated Carl’s Cartage Co., a local trucking company. In 1963, Ockenfels established Ockenfels Transfer.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Bishop Cosgrove Assembly, Old Capitol Kiwanis, American Legion and Loyal Order of Moose.

Among those that Ockenfels is survived by are Marcy and their eight children, Donna (Fred) Renon of San Diego; John (Deb) of Swisher, Iowa; Mark of Davenport, Iowa; Andy (Kathy) of Riverside, Iowa; Tim (Lisa) of Mount Pleasant, Iowa; Cindy Ward of Davenport; Chris (Verlaine) of Riverside; and Margie (Dennis) Maurer of Waterloo, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Mort and Marcy Ockenfels Scholarship Fund for the Children’s Cancer Connection.
