CP Group adds new director role, brings on industry vet
CP Group, a San Diego-based material recovery facility (MRF) equipment and solutions provider, has appointed Mark Henke to the newly created role of director of process improvements.
Henke has more than 25 years of experience in the recycling industry, most recently serving as the senior recycling manager at Republic Services, where he led various MRF process improvement initiatives that CP Group says resulted in significant gains in efficiency and throughput for the Phoenix-based firm.
In his role at CP Group, Henke is responsible for leading the company’s process improvement initiatives and driving operational excellence to meet the evolving needs of its customers.
“My involvement in multiple recycling operations and witnessing the array of new and advanced technology, which has been challenged by the ever-changing inbound recycling materials, has been a great education,” Henke says.
“My role is to bring the perspective of our customer to each CP project and opportunity as I have been a customer of CP for multiple years and projects.”
As part of the operations department, Henke will identify and implement process enhancements, increase operational efficiency and improve quality with a focus on the perspective of the customer throughout the entire process.
CP Group says Henke’s involvement in multiple recycling operations and his passion for the recycling industry will help in developing relationships with its customers and understanding their needs.
The company adds that Henke’s addition illustrates its commitment to delivering the highest-quality products and services to customers.
“We see this every day with our existing customers and so many new customers,” he says. “We also see this in new [requests for proposals] from municipalities and counties for recycling programs. CP is in a great position, and in my opinion, No. 1 within the industry—my main reason for wanting to be a part of the CP team.”
EverestLabs names senior vice president
EverestLabs, the developer of artificial intelligence- (AI-) enabled operating system for material recovery facilities (MRFs), RecycleOS, has named Steve Costello to its leadership team as senior vice president of sales.
Costello joins the company as it enters a new phase of growth after several partnerships with industry leaders, including Republic Services, Phoenix; Pioneer Recycling Services, Tacoma, Washington; KW Plastics, Troy, Alabama; Universal Waste Systems, Los Angeles; and Sims Municipal Recycling, New York.
Costello has more than 30 years of expertise across deep technology, commercial sales and executive leadership. Having built and led revenue and partnership teams for complex software as a service and hardware solutions at early- and growth-stage companies, Costello will lead the commercialization of EverestLabs’ AI robotics and data solutions in his new role.
“EverestLabs has scaled quickly as MRFs double down on adopting flexible, easy-to-install AI and robotics solutions to automate sorting,” company founder and CEO JD Ambati says. “Greater visibility into operations is also becoming paramount as EPR [extended producer responsibility] policies drive stricter recovery and audit requirements. Steve joins our team at a pivotal time, and his expertise will immensely support our next phase of growth as we continue to be a recognized leader in our category.”
Previously, Costello brought transformative technologies to market, including at New York-based nTop (formerly nTopology), a tool for designers in additive manufacturing technologies, which he sold to manufacturing companies in the aerospace, automotive, consumer and medical industries; Z Corp, Rock Hill, South Carolina, a 3D-printing technology pioneer; and SpaceClaim, a leading simulation engineering software that was acquired by Ansys, based in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania.
“I’m thrilled to be joining EverestLabs and to put my experience scaling early technology startups to action for a company that is positioned to lead the $10 billion waste sorting robotics market,” Costello says.
EverestLabs says it also is expanding its engineering, marketing and robotics operations teams.
