Szany Retires from Nexgen
Joe Szany, director of sales for Nexgen, a business unit of Marathon Equipment, based in Vernon, Ala., has retired.
Szany, a longtime veteran of the recycling industry, has been instrumental in the success of Nexgen since joining Marathon Equipment in 2003, according to the company. His primary role was to help develop the next generation of baling equipment based on market trends.
"Joe has been a tremendous asset to the company, and his accomplishments with Nexgen are truly commendable," says Gene Laminack, CFO and director of Nexgen.
Conversion Resources Adds Two Staffers
Conversion Resources LLC, Macedonia, Ohio, has added two staff members to its nonferrous scrap recycling operations.
Frank Marshall has joined the company as manager of industrial accounts. Marshall has 26 years of experience in the recycling and aluminum manufacturing industries.
Also joining Conversion Resources is Tommy Grafe, who is being added as senior buyer, dealer accounts. Grafe has more than 10 years of experience in the aluminum manufacturing and recycling industries.
Conversion Resources is a wholly owned division of Montreal-based American Iron & Metal. The division recycles numerous grades of nonferrous scrap, including copper, aluminum, brass, bronze and high temperature alloys, at its 80,000-square-foot-facility in Macedonia and serves manufacturing companies throughout North America.

Larry Schultz Retires from U.S. Steel
U.S. Steel Chairman and CEO John P. Surma has announced that Senior VP and Controller Larry G. Schultz has elected to retire from the company effective April 1, 2009.
A successor for Schultz’s responsibilities will be named at a later date.
"Schultz has exhibited extraordinary commitment to our company and the accounting profession during his distinguished 35-year career," Surma says.
Schultz, 59, began his career with U.S. Steel in 1973 as an industrial engineer and held a series of accounting and planning posts before being named director, corporate financial analysis, in 1986. He was appointed controller of USX Engineers and Consultants Inc. in 1987.
Schultz moved to Washington, D.C., in 1988 to serve on the President’s Commission on Executive Exchange and returned to U.S. Steel in 1989 as director, analysis and general accounting. He was named comptroller of U.S. Steel in 1992 and vice president, accounting, for USX Corp. in 2000.
In January 2002, Schultz was named vice president, investor relations and financial analysis, and in May 2002, he was elected vice president and controller. He was appointed to his current post in June 2008 and was responsible for accounting and compliance activities throughout the company.
Liebherr Adds to Staff
Liebherr Construction Equipment Co., Newport News, Va., has added to its staff.
Timothy Hyland has joined the company’s sales team, where he assumes the responsibility of district manager.
Hyland has held several key positions in the construction industry, including his most recent position as a regional sales manager for Dynapac. Hyland is responsible for developing sales objectives, providing training on Liebherr products, coordinating marketing strategies and providing general dealer support. Hyland is based out of Liebherr’s headquarters in Newport News.
Gerald "Jerry" Halsey has been named to the position of factory service representative at Liebherr. Halsey assists dealers and in-house and field personnel with technical issues and special projects.
Halsey has held multiple positions with Liebherr, including quality inspector to his most recent position as large machine inspector with the Liebherr Mining Division. He has more than 24 years experience with Liebherr.
