In Memoriam: John Brostrom

John Brostrom of Steinert US LLC, lost his fight against brain cancer July 22, 2008, at the age of 45.

Brostrom started his career as a design engineer for Newell Industries. During his five years with Newell, he became manager of the company’s engineering group. Brostrom later moved with his wife, Frances, to St. Louis, where he became chief engineer for American Pulverizer Inc. He later moved to Indiana to work at Steadman Machine, another equipment supplier to the scrap and recycling industries.

In 1998 Brostrom relocated his family to Colorado, and in 2004 he began working for Steinert US LLC as a sales engineer for the Western United States.

He is survived by his wife, parents, siblings and three daughters, Corinne Josephine (15), Kirsten Elizabeth (13) and Kelsey Julianna (9).

According to a Steinert news release, Brostrom was disappointed that his GBM (glioblastoma multiforme) tumor prevented him from being an organ donor. He did, however, permit an autopsy to allow researchers to ideally gain insight into GBM for future patients and their treatment.

Contributions to brain cancer research can be made with the National Brain Tumor Foundation at www.braintumor.org.
