PSC Announces Appointments

PSC Metals, headquartered in Mayfield Heights, Ohio, has announced two staff appointments.

Linda Bogdanovic has been promoted to vice president of human resources. Bogdanovic joined the company in 1981 and has held numerous positions since then, including director of human resources and director of compensation and benefits. She is a member of the local chapters of the American Management Association and the Society of Human Resource Management.

PSC has named Ted Ernstberger vice president in charge of the company’s commercial scrap operations in the Southeast. He is based in Birmingham, Ala., and has more than 15 years of experience in the scrap metal business, having worked for David J. Joseph Co. and Jefferson Iron and Metal Brokerage. He is responsible for selling yard scrap and expanding the company’s brokerage business across Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky.

Schnitzer Changes Officer Ranks

Schnitzer Steel Industries Inc., Portland, Ore., has announced a number of recent personnel appointments.

Vicki Piersall has been appointed to the position of vice president of strategic planning and chief administrative officer for the company’s metals recycling business. Piersall served as vice president, corporate controller and principal accounting officer from Sept. 26, 2005, until Feb. 21, 2007. In her new post, she focuses on providing strategic direction for the metals recycling business. Piersall also is responsible for the finance, information technology and human resource groups for the metals recycling business.

The company also has appointed Jeff Poeschl to the post of vice president and corporate controller, replacing Piersall.

Gregory Witherspoon, Schnitzer’s current CFO, serves as the company’s acting principal accounting officer.

Richard Peach has been appointed deputy CFO of the company. He serves as the company’s principal accounting officer and is responsible for its accounting functions. He reports to Witherspoon.
