ROCK-TENN PROMOTES DEADWYLER

Rock-Tenn Co. of Norcross, Ga., has promoted Erik Deadwyler to executive vice president and general manager of the company’s recycled fiber division.

In his new position, Deadwyler will be responsible for managing the division’s seven recycled fiber plants as well as Rock-Tenn Trading, the company’s fiber brokerage and trading business.

Deadwyler joined Rock-Tenn in June 2002 as director of commodity risk management. In February 2005, his role was expanded to director of purchasing and commodity risk management, which included developing company-wide sourcing initiatives and managing purchasing and accounts payable functions. He was promoted to the post of vice president and general manger, Rock-Tenn Trading, in October of 2005.

ALTER NAMES OPERATIONS VP

Tim Bernstein has joined Alter Trading Corp., St. Louis, as vice president of operations.

Bernstein is well acquainted with the scrap industry, previously having been general manager of the David J. Joseph River Metals Recycling facility in Louisville, Ky. Prior to that he was general manager at JAX Can Buyers in Jacksonville, Fla., and a purchasing agent at London Iron & Metal, Atlanta.

"Due to our phenomenal growth over the past two years and future growth plans, we needed to expand our executive operating group," Rob Goldstein, president of Alter Trading Corp., says.

"Tim Bernstein’s extensive experience will be a great asset as we consider new acquisitions and the installation of more state-of-the-art equipment at existing facilities," Goldstein adds.

Bernstein is responsible for the Burlington, Iowa; Davenport, Iowa; Peoria, Ill., and Quincy, Ill., Alter Trading scrap recycling facilities, according to the company.

Founded in 1898, Alter Trading is a privately owned, fourth-generation company with six trading offices and 18 processing facilities in the United States.
