ANSAM METALS CORP.

Ansam Metals Corp. President Samuel S. Kahan has announced the election of Benjamin Zager to the position of executive vice president of the Baltimore-based nonferrous metals firm.

Kahan says Zager will also continue in his current positions as chief financial officer and as a member of the board of directors. "During his 15 years at Ansam, [Benjamin] has had numerous responsibilities related to the company’s management and trading operations," says Kahan.

Ansam Metals Corp. is a processor and merchant of nonferrous metals with plants in Baltimore and in Decatur, Ala.

BELMONT METALS INC.

Nonferrous metals and alloys provider Belmont Metals Inc., Brooklyn, N.Y., has acquired Ney Metals, also of Brooklyn, and has made several personnel announcements as a result of the acquisition.

Former Ney Metals Vice President Ron Mayer retains that title with Belmont Metals and former Ney Metals General Manager Herbert J. Doyle joins Belmont as its director of sales and marketing.

"Ney and its staff bring some new and exciting products and ideas to our company," says Belmont President Richard G. Henning. Ney Metals is a 135-year-old company specializing in white metals.

Belmont Metals supplies nonferrous metals and alloys to foundries and casting plants making a variety of products including jewelry, sculpture and industrial castings.

THE MARYLAND RECYCLERS COALITION

Lori Scozzafava, director of technical programs for the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA), has been elected to the Maryland Recyclers Coalition (MRC) board of directors. 

"I am very excited to serve the Maryland Recyclers Coalition as a member of its board of directors," says Scozzafava. "I hope the experience I have gained throughout my career will assist the Coalition in accomplishing its goals."

Scozzafava joined SWANA, Silver Spring, Md., in 1999, but has been involved with the MRC since the early 1990s, when she led the Recycling Services Division for the Maryland Department of the Environment. Her term on the MRC board will run through May 2005.

Scozzafava has previously worked as senior consultant for Virginia-based Gershman, Brickner & Bratton Inc. (GBB) and as recycling coordinator for the Municipal Utilities Authority in Morris County, N.J.

ERIEZ MAGNETICS

Chester "Chet" Giermak, former president of Eriez Magnetics, has received a Special Recognition Award from the Process Equipment Manufacturers Association (PEMA), Falls Church, Va.

The former president of the Erie, Pa.-based maker of magnetic equipment was honored by the manufacturing association for his long-time involvement with PEMA, including a stint as its president.

Giermak was president and CEO of Eriez for more than 40 years before retiring in January of 2004. During his tenure, Eriez grew from a company with 40 employees and $1.8 million in annual sales to one with 480 employees and $70 million in sales.

Giermak’s replacement at Eriez is former vice president of international operations Tim Shuttleworth.
