AMDURA CORP.
Amdura Corp. has appointed Peter Schwartz as president of Harris Waste Management Group Inc., Peachtree City, Ga. Schwartz was previously the president and chief executive officer of Natco Inc. Also, Michael Tryon has been hired as vice president, sales and marketing of Harris, Robert Pfeffer has been named regional manager, and Thomas Bunker is now product specialist.
In addition, Harris has appointed John Scholefield as director of sales, Europe. As such, Scholefield will direct all aspects of European sales activities and manage the local country representatives from his office in the United Kingdom.
AMERICAN IRON AND STEEL INSTITUTE
Thomas Usher,president and chief operating officer of USX Corp., has been appointed chairman of the board of the American Iron & Steel Institute. Usher succeeds David Hoag, chairman and chief executive officer of the LTV Steel Corp. Hoag and Robert Grow, president and CEO of Geneva Steel, have been appointed vice chairmen of AISI.
KUBOTA
Kubota Tractor, Torrance, Calif., has appointed Robert Killian as the company’s senior vice president of sales and marketing. Killian brings to Kubota some 20 years of sales and marketing experience, primarily at J.I. Case.
AMERICAN RETREADERS ASSOCIATION
Bill Gragg, retreading and systems manager of the Latin America Region for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. since 1990, has joined the American Retreaders Association, Louisville, Ky., as technical director.
Gragg fills the position vacated by Bob Majewski who resigned to accept a position as vice president, manufacturing, for Sumeral Tire Service, Newport, Ky.
CASE CORP.
Case Corp., Racine, Wisc., has made a number of recent personnel changes. Among them, Victoria Rickey has been named to the newly-created position of senior vice president, product management and strategic planning, and Kenneth Kessler has been named senior vice president, product planning.
In addition, Thomas Evans is now senior vice president of operations, Gary Diaz has joined Case Corp. as senior vice president of product development and engineering, and Alfred Mulvey has become vice president of purchasing and component manufacturing.
THE AUTOMOTIVE RECYCLERS ASSOCIATION
The Automotive Recyclers Association has appointed four new regional directors, each to serve a two-year term on the association’s board. John Logel of Logel’s Auto Parts, Kitchener, Ontario, has been appointed to represent Region I (Eastern Canada). Debbie Holmes of Augusta Auto Salvage, Augusta, Kansas, has been appointed to represent Region V (Southwest U.S.). Ray Cerrito of Cerrito Bros., Johnston, R.I., has been appointed to represent Region IX (New England).; and Loren Lancaster of Barger Mattson Auto, Twin Falls, Idaho, has been appointed to represent Region XVII (Western Rocky Mountains, U.S.).
BUREAU OF MINES
Dr. Herschel Cutler, executive director of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc., Washington, has been appointed to the U.S. Bureau of Mines Advisory Board by U.S. Secretary of the Interior Bruce Babbitt.
The Advisory Board has been established to provide external advice to the director of the U.S. Bureau of Mines on policy and program redirection for the Bureau, with the aim of ensuring the continued relevance and quality of Bureau research and information.
Board members are appointed to two-year terms based on their expertise in environmental remediation, pollution prevention, health and safety, materials partnerships or information.
THE HEIL CO.
The Heil Co., Chattanooga, Tenn., has promoted Glenn Chambers to president of the Heil Refuse and Truck Body Group and Robert Foster as president of the Heil Tank Trailer Co. The promotions are the result of the company’s recent split of its two major divisions into separate corporations.
Lawrence Gray, formerly president of The Heil Co., has been named chief executive officer of Heil Consolidated, which will become a holding company for the two Heil corporations.
SPECIALTY FIBRES INC.
Neal Golden, formerly of Hapag Lloyd Inc., has joined Specialty Fibres Inc., Walnut Creek, Calif., in the company’s export division.
Golden has more than five years experience in the steamship line business.
WHEELABRATOR
Wheelabrator Engineered Systems Inc./Memtek Products, Billerica, Mass., has appointed George Waddington engineering manager for Memtek. In addition, the company has appointed Peter Kimball Northeast regional sales manager and Christopher Sakorafos national sales manager.
KOMATSU DRESSER CO.
Komatsu Dresser Co., Lincolnshire, Ill., has promoted John Tucker to the newly-created position of director of mining sales & major accounts for Komatsu products.
In addition, Rod Schrader has assumed the position of manager, large equipment-East, and Steve Moore has been named product manager for Komatsu wheel loaders. Also, Kelly Littlefield has been named manager, major accounts.
J.V. MANUFACTURING INC.
Mark Harris, formerly engineering manager for J.V. Manufacturing Inc., Springdale, Ark., has been promoted to vice president of engineering for the same company. As such, Harris will also oversee the company’s Service Department. In addition, Dennis Miller, manager of manufacturing, has been promoted to vice president of manufacturing.
HI-RISE RECYCLING
Stephen Jockers has been named general manager of the Florida division of Hi-Rise Recycling Systems Inc., Miami. As such, he is responsible for managing sales, division accounting, equipment installation, service and user education for Hi-Rise Recycling Systems.
Jockers was previously general manager of Attwoods Community Recycling, also based in Miami.
DIXON RECYCLERS
Richard Scott has been made a partner in and named chief operations officer of Dixon Recyclers, Lebanon, Pa. Scott previously served as executive vice president. Dixon operates three large multi-material recycling facilities in central Pennsylvania. In his new position, Scott will be responsible for Dixon Recyclers’ continued expansion in size and capabilities.
ALLIED WASTE
Allied Waste Industries Inc., Scottsdale, Ariz., has appointed Steve Ulthoff to the position of vice president -- finance. With this appointment, Ulthoff assumes the duties of the company’s chief financial officer. Ulthoff was previously Allied’s vice president and controller.
In addition, Luke Botica has resigned his positions as senior vice president -- finance, chief financial officer, treasurer and secretary in order to pursue other interests. Botica will continue to serve as a consultant to the company.
NATIONAL GROUP
The National Group of Companies Inc., Lima, Ohio, has appointed Don Reese to the position of vice president of operations. As such, Reese is responsible for all operational aspects of the company and its six divisions and subsidiaries.
In addition, the company has appointed William Mohler its vice president of sales and marketing. Mohler is responsible for all aspects of sales and marketing for the company in the U.S and overseas.
SMURFIT LATIN AMERICA
Pietro Filesi has been appointed group vice president and chief operating officer of Smurfit Latin America, North Miami Beach, Fla. In this position, he will be responsible for Smurfit Lain American’s operations in Colombia, Mexico and Venezuela. Filesi will also be responsible for the development of new business in Latin America. Filesi was previously president and CEO of Smurfit Carton de Venezuela, a position he held since 1991. He joined the company in 1971.
AFPA
Henson Moore, a former U.S. Congressman from Louisiana and senior White House aide in the Bush administration, has been named the new president and CEO of the American Forest & Paper Association, Washington.
Moore was previously a partner in the Washington office of Bracewell & Patterson, a Houston law firm, where he worked on natural resource and environmental issues.
SIERRA
Sierra International Machinery Inc., Bakersfield, Calif., has appointed three new area sales managers to its sales force, all with experience in the scrap recycling industry. Dave Berg is responsible for the central U.S., Roy Waterhouse the southeastern U.S. and Joanne Knapp for Texas and Oklahoma. John Sacco, president, and Jose Pereyra, general sales manager, will continue responsibility for the western U.S.
VINYL SIDING INSTITUTE
Jery Huntley has been named executive director of the Vinyl Siding Institute and the Vinyl Window and Door Institute, divisions of the Society of the Plastics Industry. Huntley has been the director of recycling for the American Plastics Council, Washington, and its predecessor organizations for the past six years. In addition, Richard Walker will continue in his position as technical director, Vinyl Window and Door Institute, and Richard Gottwald has been named technical director, Vinyl Siding Institute.
NAPCOR
The board of directors of the National Association for Plastic Container Recovery, Charlotte, N.C., has elected three new officers for the association's 1995 term of office.
Terry Begley
of Eastman Chemical Co. was named chairman, Joseph Norris of Colgate-Palmolive Co. was named vice chairman, and Ralph Taylor of Constar International was named treasurer of the association.CIWMB
The California Senate Rules Committee has reappointed Wesley Chesbro to a second four-year term with the California Integrated Waste Management Board, Sacramento. Chesbro is vice chair of the Board.
In addition, Caroline Rennie has left her position with the CIWMB, and has taken a position with Continental PET, Europe, a Brussels, Belgium-based manufacturer of various forms of packaging.
ISRI CALIFORNIA
Joe Massey has been appointed executive director of the California Chapter of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries. Massey was formerly with Alpert & Alpert, Los Angeles.
NAAD
John Rudin has been elected president of the National Association of Aluminum Distributors, Philadelphia. Rudin is president of Reynolds Aluminum Supply Co., located in Richmond, Va.
COASTAL WIRE CO.
Michael Coward, the founder and longtime president of Coastal Wire Co., Georgetown, S.C., has moved into the role of chairman and has appointed Bernard Ramsdale as the company's new president. Ramsdale has more than 25 years experience in the steel industry, most recently serving as general operations manager for a steel company in Ontario, Canada.
GETTYSBURG FOUNDRY
Gettysburg Foundry Specialties Co., Gettysburg, Pa., has announced the retirement of Robert White, chairman and CEO. White founded Gettysburg Foundry in 1957. Creed White will become chairman and CEO.
