GBB Solid Waste Management Consultants, Falls Church, Va., has named Sharon Oxley as director of public education services and marketing. Prior to joining GBB, Oxley was director of environmental and government affairs for the Glass Packing Institute, Washington, and was executive director of Keep Lee County Beautiful, Fort Myers, Fla.

Schaeff Incorporated

Mike Bourne has been named industrial regional sales manager for the West Coast at Schaeff Inc., Sioux City, Iowa. Bourne, who has more than 25 years experience in the material handling industry, will be based in Portland, Ore. Schaeff manufactures electric transport vehicles such as fork lifts, and markets a line of construction and scrap handling equipment.

Rumpke Recycling

Dave Davenport has been promoted to regional recycling coordinator for the Rumpke Corp., Cincinnati. Davenport will be responsible for the marketing of commercial recycling materials and the plant operations of a new Rumpke commercial recycling facility in Columbus. Rumpke owns and operates 12 recycling facilities in the Midwest.

PPM Cranes

Leon Deutsch has been named general manager of the Conway, S.C., operations of PPM Cranes. PPM makes mobile cranes under the P&H brand. Deutsch was previously the vice president, finance and CFO of Koehring Cranes, Waverly, Iowa.

WMX Technologies

WMX Technologies, Oak Brook, Ill., has announced the election by its board of directors of Herbert Getz as senior vice president of the company. Getz also serves as general counsel and secretary of WMX. WMX subsidiaries include Waste Management Inc., Chemical Waste Management Inc., Wheelabrator Technologies Inc., Rust International Inc. and Waste Management International plc.

The David J. Joseph Co.

The David J. Joseph Co., Cincinnati, has promoted Paul Jantsch to operational staff member for SHV Energy, Joseph’s parent company, and Ted Ernstberger to district manager of Joseph’s Birmingham, Ala., office.

Wabash Alloys

Jim Diamond has joined Wabash Alloys, Wabash, Ind., as vice president of materials procurement where he will direct the procurement of the raw materials needed to feed Wabash’s six plants.

Newell Industries

Newell Industries, San Antonio, has appointed Tony Morgan as president. Morgan has more than 20 years experience in the steel and mining industry, including three years of previous experience as head of Newell Industries Europe. Newell has also added Joe Oviedo as a regional sales representative.

R-B Rubber Co.

R-B Rubber Co., McMinnville, Ore., has named Mike Elliott as director of marketing and Brian Allen as controller. R-B manufactures and sells rubber mats and other protective surfaces for playgrounds, sports facilities and horse stalls.

Keep America Beautiful

Keep America Beautiful Inc., Stamford, Conn., has elected Jeremiah Sheehan, president and COO of the Reynolds Aluminum Co., as chairman of the board and the executive committee. John Bard, senior vice president of the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co., has been named vice chairman of the board.

OTTO Industries Inc.

OTTO Industries Inc., Charlotte, N.C., has named Don Whiteside as marketing manager for Automated Refuse Equipment, an OTTO subsidiary that manufactures and markets automated lifting and grabbing equipment for the solid waste industry. The company also has named Karen Foster as marketing services manager, Jose Pomales as export manager and Joe Rivera as regional sales manager, western (south).

Hi-Rise Recycling Systems

Jeff Daniels has been named president of Hi-Rise Recycling Systems Inc., Miami. The company markets and installs recycling systems for multi-story buildings. Daniels was previously the vice president of Marathon Equipment. In addition, Mike Bracken was promoted to new construction manager of Hi-Rise Recycling.

Staiman Brothers

Staiman Brothers Inc., Williamsport, Pa., has recently hired Seth Keller as general manager. Keller, formerly the general manager for B. Abrams & Sons Inc., Harrisburg, Pa., has more than 20 years of experience in the scrap processing and recycling industry. He will be in charge of company operations.

Rubber Recycling Group

William Klingensmith has been elected to the previously vacant position of vice chairman of the Rubber Recycling Topical Group within the Rubber Division of the American Chemical Society. RRTG is based in Akron, Ohio. Klingensmith and his company, Akron Consulting Co. are founding members of RRTG.

Belmont Metals

Belmont Metals Inc., Brooklyn, N.Y., a manufacturer of nonferrous metals and alloys, has appointed Bruce Reed as senior consultant.

Columbia Trading Co.

Columbia Trading Co., Cleveland, a division of The Columbia Companies, one of the nation's largest scrap metal trading operations, has transferred Bud Ruffner to its Atlanta office.
