National Oil Recyclers Association

Environmental scientist Sandy B. Hunt has been named as governmental affairs director for the National Oil Recyclers Association (NORA), Cleveland. She will be responsible for coordinating NORA’s representation and advocacy efforts. Her previous experience includes serving as coordinator of Utah’s used oil program and chairing committees representing recycling interests throughout the state.

Hawaii Metal Recycling Co.

Gloria R. Munson has been named controller at Hawaii Metal Recycling Co. (HMR), Honolulu. Munson previously worked as an assistant controller at HMR and was responsible for managing the financial matters of the company’s Big Island subsidiary, Big Island Recycling Co. In her new position, she will be responsible for managing all financial matters, including general ledger analysis, accounts payable and preparing financial statements.

Daewoo Names VP

Daewoo Heavy Industries America Corp., Suwanee, Ga., has named Tim O’Malley as vice president of distributor sales for the Construction Equipment Division. In his new position, O’Malley will oversee Daewoo’s North America dealer network. O’Malley has worked for Daewoo for 10 years and established the company’s first distribution agreement with 10 U.S. distributors.

OminiSource Corp.

Chris Charlebois has joined OmniSource Corp., Fort Wayne, Ind, as Strategic Systems Development Project Manager. Charlebois is a 28-year veteran of the scrap industry and a certified industrial engineer. He has held positions with Philip Services Corp., Luntz Corp. and Co-Steel - Advance.

Harris Press & Shear

Joe Allegro has been hired by Harris Press & Shear as regional sales manager for the company’s ferrous division. He will be responsible for selling ferrous balers, loggers, shears and shredders in the Northeastern U.S., Ontario and Quebec. Allegro has nine years sales of large equipment sales experience. He will be based in New Castle, Pa.

Plastic Revolutions

Plastic Revolutions announces Ed Handy has been hired as plant manager. He is the former general manager of FCR Inc. and has 16 years experience with plastics recycling and manufacturing. Handy will be handling all aspects of plant operations and the buying and selling of materials.

Slater Steel Names Senior VP

David Camozzi has been named senior vice president, corporate development, at Slater Steel Inc., Mississauga, Ontario. He will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategic growth and integration for the company.

Gehl Announces Board of Directors

Gehl Co. , West Bend, Wisc., has named Richard Fotsch to a three-year term to the board of directors, replacing retiring director Arthur Nesbitt. Fotsch is senior vice president of engine manufacturer for Briggs & Stratton Corp. John Byrnes and Hermann Viets were also named to three-year terms. Byrnes has served as chairman and CEO of Mason Wells Inc., Milwaukee and Viets has serves as president and CEO of the Milwaukee School of Engineering, Milwaukee.

“It’s always gratifying to me to be able to promote to executive management from our own employees, who represent a real strength of the company,” says Philip. Wooh will be based out of SSI’s Tacoma, Washington location.

Saylor Joins SCS Engineers

Gary Saylor has joined SCS engineers Cincinnati regional office. He has been active in the environmental field and construction engineering since 1978 and has more than 15 years experience in landfill engineering with Browning Ferris Industries. With SCS he will act as project manager for landfill related projects.

The David J. Joseph Co.

Benjamin M. Blemker, executive vice president, brokerage, has announced his retirement from The David J. Joseph Co., Cincinnati. Blemker worked for DJJ or 24 years in a variety of capacities, including as a brokerage representative and district manager.

With Blemker's retirement, John Radcliffe was promoted to vice president of trading. Tre Whitmore will succeed Radcliffe as district manager. Whitmore has been with DJJ since 1993 and previously served as a brokerage representative in Omaha and Pittsburgh.

IMCO Recycling Inc.

Don Ingram has assumed the role of president at IMCO Recycling Inc., Irving, Texas. The appointment is part of the company's plan to "better focus the capabilities of our senior executives on improving the profitability of IMCO's business units," says Ingram.

Richard Kerr, previously president and COO, will become president of the specialty alloys division. These operations include four aluminum allows and aluminum recycling facilities that serve the auto and truck manufacturing and component industries.

Denis Ray will become the president of aluminum recycling division. He was previously the executive vice president of the aluminum operations.

Russ Robinson will continue as president of the subsidiary U.S. Zinc Corp. Paul Dufour will remain in his current role as executive vice president, secretary and chief financial officer as well.

Volvo Construction Equipment Group

Ron Huibers has been named national sales manager for Volvo Construction Equipment North America Inc., Asheville, N.C. Huibers joined Volvo in 1999 after the company's acquisition of Champion Road Machinery, where he was a manager of continuous improvement. He also has experience in accounting and as a branch manager for a construction equipment manufacturer.

Linpac Materials Handling

Jim Dobell has been appointed to the newly created position of president of LINPAC Materials Handling, NAFTA Region. Dobell was previously vice president and general manager of LINPAC pallet container operations in Georgetown and Bardstown, N.Y. He has been with LINPAC for 22 years and has held executive level positions with ROPAK. In his new position, Dobell will focus on the development of its non-automotive business and leverage LINPAC's position in the Food Container division.

Philip Services Corp.

Robert J. Millstone has been named senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at Philip Services Corp., Hamilton, Ontario. He joins the company from Lyondell Chemical Co. where he served as vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary.

"Rob brings a depth of legal experience from an operational as well as a corporate governance perspective and we are very pleased to have him join PSC," says Anthony Fernandes, president and CEO. "With his proven ability to use the legal framework to facilitate sound business decisions and growth initiatives, he will bring valuable insights and support the management process."

Industrial Services of America Inc.

Robert A. Otis has been named vice chairman of the board of Industrial Services of America Inc., Louisville, Ky. He will direct ISA's North American sales and marketing initiatives and oversee customer service. He will also facilitate the adoption of specialized software for the company's waste management consulting operations.

"Bob is a dynamic leader who has proven abilities to produce creative, on-target solutions," says Harry Kletter, ISA's chief visionary officer.

Otis' previous experience includes time as owner and manager of a consulting firm specializing in business development. He also founded and operated accompany that produced telephone directories for regional and independent telephone companies.

Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corp.

Sherry Giarrusso-Mulhearn has resigned from her position as executive director and general counsel of the Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corp., Johnston, R.I. Mulhearn says owning her own law firm will provide the flexibility she needs to better balance the needs of her career and family. She has formed a law partnership with Joseph A. Ferrucci, Ferrucci and Mulhearn.

Mulhearn joined Resource Recovery in 1996 as general counsel and named acting director 11 weeks after her arrival. She was appointed executive directory in April 1997.

Indiana Recycling Coalition

Michelle Cohen has been named as executive director of the Indiana Recycling Coalition. Cohen most recently served as the sold waste district director for Brown County. She has experience in environmental management and has worked with local government recycling programs.

"Michelle brings the kind of knowledge to the issues, enthusiasm and coalition building that the IRC needs in its leadership," says Stephanie Biehn, IRC president.

Cohen succeeds Janet Fox Neltner as the past executive director, who resigned from her position after 11 years with the coalition.

National Recycling Coalition

The National Recycling Coalition, Alexandria, Va., has named Kate Krebbs as deputy director. She previously served as executive director of a community recycling center in Arcata, Calif., a position she held for 18 years. She was honored by the California Resource Recovery Association as its Recycler of the Year in 1999.

U.S. Plastic Lumber LTD

Thomas M. McEvoy has been named president of U.S. Plastic Lumber Ltd., plastics division, Chicago. Recent restructuring of the plastics division led to the search for a president. Previously, McEvoy held several senior level positions with Armstrong World Industries, most recently as vice president of sales for North America and Latin America. U.S. Plastic Lumber manufactures plastic lumber from recycled plastic.

Nucor Corp.

Daniel R. Dimicco has been elected as president and CEO of Nucor Corp., Charlotte, N.C., succeeding H. David Aycock. Dimicco has been with Nucor for 18 years and most recently served as executive vice president. Peter C. Browning has been elected chairman of Nucor's Board of Directors. He has been director of Nucor since 1999. Previously he was president and CEO of Sonoco Products Co. and chairman and CEO of National Gypsum Co.
