Aluminium.com Inc., New York, an Internet company establishing an electronic marketplace for the aluminum trading market, has named Douglas Bradham as vice president of international business development.
Bradham has more than 35 years experience at Reynolds Metals Co, with his most recent position being general director, export and marketing sales. “Doug brings extensive metal and aluminum manufacturing and global sales management expertise,” says Alan Kestenbaum, president and CEO of Aluminium.com. “His leadership and tenured knowledge base will be key in launching aluminium.com’s international strategy.
BIRMINGHAM STEEL
Birmingham Steel Corp., Birmingham, Ala., has announced that Michael Wagner has been appointed vice president—general sales manager for its American Steel & Wire Corp. special quality bar (SBQ) and rod operation. Wagner previously served as sales manager for Nucor Corp.’s facility in Crawfordsville, Ind. He currently serves as vice chairman of the operating committee of the Steel Alliance.
Wagner will be responsible for all sales, customer service, marketing, forecasting and sales strategy for the company’s SBQ markets.
Also at Birmingham Steel, executive vice president and CFO Kevin E. Walsh has resigned after about two years with the company. “Kevin Walsh served as CFO of Birmingham Steel during a very challenging time,” says John D. Correnti, chairman and CEO. “We appreciate the contributions he made during his tenure with the company, which included redesigning corporate and plant administration and working with leaders to amend the company’s loan agreements.”
Walsh will continue to serve as a consultant for the company, according to Correnti.
INSTITUTE OF SCRAP RECYCLING INDUSTRIES INC.
The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc. (ISRI), Washington, finalized the election of its new officer slate at its Annual Convention in Las Vegas.
Sam W. Hummelstein, president of Hummelstein Iron & Metal Inc. of Jonesboro, Ark., has been elected to a two-year term as chairperson of ISRI. He formerly served as first vice president of the association.
Outgoing ISRI president Shelly Padnos may be the last member-president for awhile, as the title of president was transferred to executive director Robin K. Wiener. Hummelstein, as chairperson, will be the highest-ranking member of ISRI’s board of directors.
In other changes approved by ISRI board members, the Nonmetal-lics Division was re-named the Paper Division, and the board voted to trim the total size of the board of directors from 63 directors to 43.

JCB INC.
JCB Inc., White Marsh, Md., has appointed Mike Chapman as president of the company. He will be overseeing the company’s North American operations.
Chapman has been with the company since 1976 and became managing director of the Loadall telescopic handler division in the U.K. in 1998. He has also spent time as a managing director of JCB Hydrapower, makers of JCB’s mini-excavator product line.
“JCB Inc. is being reorganized and its management team strengthened to support the company’s North American expansion program,” says John Patterson, group chief executive. “Mike has wide experience in sales, service and manufacturing within the JCB Group which will serve him well.”
WASTE MANAGEMENT INC.
William Prachar has been named as vice president—business ethics and compliance, at Waste Management Inc., Houston. He will direct a department responsible for guiding WM’s business and professional ethics programs.
Prachar joins WM from Legal Research Network Inc., where he was general manager of its Internet compliance education product and contributed to the development of online training.
LBX CO.
Kevin Roberts has been named parts business manager of LBX Co., Lexington, Ky. His responsibilities will include management of the parts business including marketing, sales and customer service.
Roberts comes to LBX from Clark Material Handling Co. where he was most recently purchasing manager of after-market parts.
At Clark he held several positions, including customer service manager, materials manager and inventory control manager.
FERROUS PROCESSING & TRADING CO.
Howard Sherman has been appointed as president and chief operating officer of Ferrous Processing & Trading Co., Detroit, according to a report in American Metal Market. Sherman had been the president of K Scrap Resources Ltd., Windsor, Canada. Sherman is also the second vice president of the Canadian Association of Recycling Industries (CARI).
STELLAR INDUSTRIES INC.
Francis Zrostlik, founder of Stellar Industries Inc., Garner, Iowa, has been inducted into the Tire Association of North America’s Hall of Fame. The honor is accorded “to those who have contributed to the success of the tire business industry.”
Zrostlik founded Iowa Mold Tooling (IMT) in 1961 to re-tool the hot cure molds then used to retread tires. The next year he purchased patterns and rights to sell the Mobile Air compressor system. In 1964 he designed the Du-All Fleetside pick-up toolboxes as a companion to the compressors.
Throughout the 1970’s Zrostlik added to the product line and also served as president of the National Tire Dealers & Retreader’s Association Superior Council. He sold the business in 1985 and remained involved until he retired in 1988.
In 1990 he founded Stellar Industries Inc., which was the first U.S. designer and manufacturer of hydraulic hooklift loaders. To increase sales volume, Stellar purchased the assets of Collins Tire division of David Manufacturing of Mason City, Iowa.
Today more than 160 people are employed by Stellar Industries.
ADP HOLLANDER
ADP Hollander has named Scot Doyle as vice president and general manager. He will be responsible for providing strategic direction for the company and overseeing day-to-day operations.
Doyle assumed responsibility in December and brings customer service experience with him to the job. Prior to working for ADP, he served new car dealerships across the United States and Canada as part of ADP’s Dealer Services division.
“With the increased opportunities available through new technology and the Internet, as well as the challenges posed by consolidation, now is a truly exciting time to be part of ADP Hollander and the automotive recycling business,” Doyle says.
TRUCKS & PARTS
Marvin Goldberg, founder of Trucks & Parts of Tampa and Trucks & Parts of Ohio, has been selected to receive the International Parts Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
Trucks and Parts of Tampa/Ohio is America’s largest online and retail dealer of used, reconditioned and new refuse vehicles, garbage trucks, roll-offs and specialty vehicles for the waste management industry. The company also supplies used, rebuilt and new heavy-duty truck parts. The company has been recognized by Advertising Age for operating one of the Top 200 business-to-business websites for 1999 and as the first in its industry to develop an industry specific website.
VERMEER MANUFACTURING
Jarret Cowden, vice president of marketing and sales of Vermeer Manufacturing since 1991, will be leaving that position in May. He will be entering a new venture that will provide outsourced marketing and advertising services to the company and to Vermeer dealers. Cowden will form Two Rivers Marketing Resource Co., an advertising and marketing company, in partnership with Tom Dunphy.
