Atlas Metal & Iron Corp., Denver, has announced that Donald Rosen has been named chairman of the board and that Michael Rosen has been appointed as president and CEO of the company.
Donald Rosen, who in his most recent role was president of the company, will continue his role as chairman of the board. He founded the company with Ben Rosen in 1956.
Michael Rosen, who was previously corporate secretary/treasurer, joined the firm in 1981 and has served as chief financial officer and has been responsible for safety, maintenance and yard operations.
J.V. MANUFACTURING INC.
Debbie Wethers has been named director of promotions and special events at J.V. Manufacturing Inc., Springdale, Ark. Wethers will oversee the company’s expanding national and international trade show activity, as well as handling additional marketing and advertising responsibilities. She has been a J.V. Manufacturing employee for three years. J.V. makes the Cram-A-Lot line of balers and compactors.
ENVIRONMENTAL PROCESSING SYSTEMS INC.
Dennis J. Gormley has been named as chairman of the board of Environmental Processing Systems Inc. (EPS), Garden City, N.Y.
Gormley has more than 30 years of international sales and manufacturing experience, primarily in the automotive industry. “As EPS begins to commercialize and expand, Dennis brings strategic, management and operational expertise to the board while demonstrating our intent to participate successfully in the global marketplace,” says James Randall, EPS’ CEO.
EPS makes and markets fine rubber powders made from scrap tires and other scrap rubber products.
INDUSTRIAL SERVICES OF AMERICA
The board of directors of Industrial Services of America Inc., Louisville, Ky., has created a special advisory role for ISA chairman Harry Kletter.
The board has designated Kletter as the company’s chairman and chief visionary officer. Previously Kletter had served as chairman and CEO. The board has not re-established the CEO officer position and instead the company’s executives will report directly to the board of directors.
AMERICAN FOREST & PAPER ASSOCIATION
Cherae Bishop has been named as the director of fiber recovery and utilization at the American Forest & Paper Association, Washington. Bishop formerly worked as vice president, legislative and media affairs, at the Integrated Waste Services Association. In her current position she will focus on implementing programs to ensure an affordable recovered paper supply and to help achieve the industry’s 50% recovered paper goal for paper.
LBX COMPANY
LBX Co., Lexington, Ky., the maker of Link-Belt excavators, has named Robert G. Harvell as its president and CEO. Harvell has held various marketing, sales, finance and operations positions, most recently as executive vice president, during a 25-year career with Link-Belt. He replaces Jack Heimann, who is moving to England to work for CNH Global N.V., a joint venture owner of LBX.
IN MEMORIAM
Alton Newell, a pioneer in the creation of the automobile shredder and the founder of several businesses, died in late March at his home in San Antonio. He was 86 years old. Newell was the founder of Newell Industries Inc., San Antonio, and Newell Recycling. (For more on Newell’s accomplishments, see the Scrap Industry News department.)
