Magnum D’Or Resources’ Truck Tires Pass Trials
Magnum D’Or Resources Inc., with U.S. headquarters in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., has announced that its SRI Custom Compound truck tires have successfully passed the 2,500-kilometer (1,550-mile) validation trials at the Rubber Research Institute in Malaysia.
The company says the purpose of the trials was to establish that it is possible to include substantive recycled content in production OEM (original equipment manufacturers) and replacement tires without compromising performance and safety. The results of the tests suggest that the company’s SRI Next Generation Custom Compounds may be able to provide manufacturers recycled tires that operate just as efficiently as virgin rubber tires.
The 2,500-kilometer test is the first of several that will analyze the company’s tires. The duration of the tests will increase until the tires are tested for a distance of 30,000 kilometers (18,600 miles), representing the average operating life of a light truck tire. Magnum says the initial results suggest there are limited differences between the company’s SRI Compound tires and tires that are produced with virgin rubber.
The company says it intends to repeat this protocol testing several times during the next year to establish the performance levels of the Magnum SRI Compound in different variants of compounds, tire types and applications.

Michigan DNRE Releases Tire Recycling Report
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Environment (DNRE) has released a report on the effectiveness of Michigan’s Scrap Tire Program. The report shows that the program has decreased stockpiles of scrap tires, increased compliance rates at scrap tire sites and improved the reuse markets for scrap tires.
The state’s Scrap Tire Program has facilitated the cleanup of nearly 31.1 million passenger car tires through Scrap Tire Cleanup Grants. It is estimated that at least another 1 million passenger tire equivalents (PTEs) will be removed during the fiscal year 2010 grant cycle.
Michigan’s scrap tire market capacity is currently greater than 18.5 million PTEs per year, the DNRE reports.
