GREENMAN ACQUIRES TWO COMPANIES
In July GreenMan Technologies, Lynnfield, Mass., completed its acquisition of Minnesota-based R&J Recycling Company’s tire collection operations. GreenMan also acquired Unlimited Tire Technologies (UTT), Azusa, Cal.
GreenMan will consolidate R&J’s scrap tire collecting and marketing business into its GreenMan Technologies of Minnesota operations, retaining Jim Van Duker, R&J’s former president, in a business development position.
GreenMan will manage collection, processing and marketing of scrap tires at UTT under the name GreenMan Technologies of California Inc. UTT was formed in 1998 and currently manages more than 1 million tires yearly. UTT has an installed crumb rubber processing capacity of more than 10 million pounds yearly and a proven customer base.
Bob Davis, GreenMan’s CEO, says, "The acquisition of UTT represents a key entry step in establishing GreenMan’s West Coast Region. We firmly believe our proven expertise in the areas of procurement, processing and product marketing will allow us to expeditiously grow UTT’s current scrap tire volumes."
GreenMan has also hired Jim Dodenhoff as West Coast regional manager. His initial responsibility will be managing GreenMan of California and leading business development initiatives on the West Coast. Dodenhoff has worked in the recycling, hazardous waste and energy industries for the past 14 years.
