SSI SHREDDER
SSI Shredding systems has recently introduced the M70, a 45 kilowatt, 60 horsepower shredder designed to process a wide range of materials that can be tailored to meet desired processing requirements. The product is available in three cutting chamber lengths – 52 inches, 40 inches and 31 inches – and boasts a larger shaft and heavier gearbox than previous models. An aggressive hook design assists in grabbing bulky items that might otherwise require processing on a larger shredder. The system is designed for processing plastics, tires, drums, pallets, and some ferrous and nonferrous metals.
MILLER PLASMA CUTTER
Miller Electric has introduced the Spectrum 701 air plasma cutting and gouging system. This system cuts all conductive metals, including mild or stainless steel up to 3/4 inch and aluminum up to
5/8 inch, and also pierces metals. The Spectrum 701 delivers a maximum of 50 amps of power at 60 percent duty cycle. The running gear and lifting eye also make the 147-pound cutting system easy to move from job to job, according to the company.
FAIRBANKS SCALES
Fairbanks/Sartorious counting scales, bench scales, floor scales and indicators are high resolution pieces of equipment designed to weigh more precisely, as well as provide the ability to capture and record a wide variety of data. Scales are offered in a wide range of capacities, readabilities and application programs. Other products include truck scales, railroad track scales, weighing assemblies, batching instrumentation, weight indicators, printers and complete weighing systems.
AVON BEARINGS
Avon Bearings makes replacement turntable bearings for scrap handlers. Bearings are pre-loaded to enhance stiffness and rigidity. The company has recently added new distributors in the United States to support operations, and now has nine stocking distributors in North America. Distributors have the capability to perform a preliminary inspection of a scrap handler’s bearing to determine the prospect of repairing the bearing to a “like new” condition, according to company officials. Avon turntable bearings are custom designed for a specific application.
MASTERMAG MAGNETS
Global Equipment Marketing Inc. introduces the new Mastermag HD 12, 14 and 16 series of Mastermag Self Cleaning Permanent Recycling Magnets to handle larger loads and sizes of materials. The magnet is designed for material burden depths that are 8 inches or higher where the magnet must be suspended at 12 inches or higher.
All of the new HD series are available for crossbelt or inline applications and for conveyor widths up to 72 inches. To operate the self cleaning cleated belt, the motor is available in both hydraulic and electric models.
GETZ RUBBLE HOG
Getz Recycle Inc. has designed the Rubble Hog to process a wide variety of materials up to 300 tons per hour, including asphalt, concrete, demolition debris and wood. At 8.5 feet wide and 40 feet long with a dump clearance of 8 feet, this plant can be set up in 15 minutes, yet is capable of processing a high volume of material, according to the company. The crusher, with its 18 replaceable hammer tips and bolt-in liners, has a 42- by 44-inch opening that can accept large material and crush it to less than one-half inch. The feed hopper has a heaped capacity of 9 cubic yards and can be fed using a 4- to 70-cubic-yard front-end loader.
TORO TUB GRINDER
The new ProGrind 4000 tub grinder from the Recycling Equipment Division of The Toro Co. uses design and engineering technology to allow over-the-road portability without the need for special oversized permits. Hinged tub flares, available in 10-, 11- and 12-foot diameters, bring the tub below the 108-inch maximum allowable width for permit-free transport. The ProGrind can handle throughputs of up to 100 tons per hour. A 98 percent efficient hydraulic fluid coupler isolates the drive assembly from the mill to reduce clutch wear. Other improvements include enhanced operator comfort and operation.
SHREDDING POWER MONITORS
Shredding Services is now equipping its solid waste shredders with a new power monitor system that enhances the shredder’s performance and fully uses its available power, according to company officials. The new system reduces the number of stalls and reversals at overload conditions while protecting the shredder against potential overload damage.
Designed with multiple over-current set points, the monitor gauges the true power output of the shredder’s motors and allows an extended period of time for the over-current draw to drop. If a sufficient drop occurs within a pre-set time frame, the machine’s shredding operation remains uninterrupted for peak performance.
The 20-horsepower to 200-horsepower shredders also feature lift-out modular shaft assemblies and programmable controllers.
SATELLITE SCREENS
Satellite Screens Inc. has introduced its new high-capacity Series 80 screening plants. The Series 80 is available in five models designed to cover most specifications. The skid-mounted Model 80 is equipped with a gasoline engine and hydraulic drive. The Model 82 has the same equipment as the Model 80, but is trailer-mounted for highway travel. The remaining models (84 and 86) are trailer-mounted with various conveyor options. The Model 88 is equipped with either a 5- or 10-yard severe service loading hopper. A diesel engine and conveyors are standard equipment on this model.
MARATHON BALER
Marathon Equipment Co. has introduced the Gemini 3560 Crossed Cylinder baler. The baler features the new Feed Sentry for automatic cycling. This is a sensing device which initiates the baling cycle when material reaches a predetermined level in the charge chamber. It also features a programmable logic controller that permits automatic or manual control; a pressure/limit switch that lets the operator know when a bale is made; and an alarm buzzer with motor shutdown device for when the bale is finished.
NISSAN FORKLIFT
Nissan’s Laser Series electric-powered forklift trucks feature the Flex-Logic system that regulates the flow of power to and from the truck’s motors, delivering power exactly where it is needed for fast load-handling performance. A 5,000-pound capacity Laser forklift equipped with a 48-volt system delivers a top speed of 12 miles per hour. A 36-volt-system lift has a top speed of 9 miles per hour.
KOMATSU DOZER
Komatsu America International Co. has introduced three new models in its line of crawler dozers. The dozers are designed to provide ease of operation, maneuverability and power necessary to increase productivity in a wide range of applications. A major advantage of the new dozers, according to company officials, is the unique employment of easy-to-use joysticks for steering and the six-way hydraulic blade.
SENTEK FORKLIFT SCALE
Sentek Products has introduced the new RB-100 Digital Weighing System for forklifts. The RB-100 can be retrofitted on any type of forklift truck and provides the operator with weight information each time a load is lifted. The scale consists of factory calibrated load sensors that attach to the anchor bolts of the forklift’s chain and a digital readout that attaches to the driver’s compartment.
SWAPLOADER HOOK-LIFT HOISTS
Swaploader U.S.A. Ltd. has a new informational brochure describing its full line of hook-lift hoists. Specifications for each model from the SL-95, with a dump capacity of 9,000 ponds, to the SL-655, with a dump capacity of 65,000 pounds, are included, as well as informative drawings and photographs.
GRADALL HANDLER
The Gradall Co. has the new 524 LoPro rough terrain material handler for placing loads in situations that offer reduced overhead clearance. The 524 is just under 7 feet, has a 6,000-pound capacity and a vertical lift of 24.5 feet.
