National Association SupplyCooperative (NASCO-OP), New Philadelphia, Ohio, is celebrating its 60th
anniversary.
NASCO-OP, the recycling industry’s
purchasing cooperative, started when scrap industry leaders Ben Kaufman, Bill
Flynn and Charlie Rasher saw an opportunity to save money on supplies and created
a buying organization focused on recyclers.
Six decades later, members
continue to find savings by souring products through the cooperative.
“The needs of the recycling
industry are demanding and unique. Not many stores carry the specialized
equipment needed by processors,” the nonprofit said in a press release. “NASCO-OP
partners with key suppliers to provide its members access to thousands of
products including shear knives, conveyor belts, magnets, grapples, safety gear
and much more.”
NASCO-OP is
available at no additional cost to members of the Institute of Scrap Recycling
Industries (ISRI), the Canadian Association of Recycling Industries (CARI), the
Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA) and the National Demolition Association
(NDA).
