Maximizing yields ASR, ASR fines, ICW and more

With deep roots in the recycling industry, ERS recognized a critical need for cutting-edge systems to recover nonferrous metals.

Over a decade ago, Engineered Recycling Systems (ERS) was founded by industry experts with extensive experience in capital equipment sales and engineering. Their core mission? To enhance efficiency and reduce labor costs for their customers.

Jim Cunningham, one of ERS’ founding partners, emphasizes the alignment between ERS’ mission and that of its customers: “For ERS, our customers’ success is our success.” This customer-centric approach has been instrumental in delivering hundreds of successful installations.

Advanced nonferrous metals recovery systems

With deep roots in the recycling industry, ERS recognized a critical need for cutting-edge systems to recover nonferrous metals. The demand for these valuable materials drove the search for efficient, cost-effective solutions. Despite challenges posed by unprepared material exports, ERS sourced top-tier equipment technology worldwide. Its integrated systems now provide best-in-class recovery and low operating costs across various applications, including copper wire and cable processing, shredder wire, ASR (auto shredder residue) fines and electronics.

Long-term support and parts availability

ERS takes the long view when it comes to support and parts availability. While designing some of the industry’s most cost-effective systems, it acknowledges that wear parts are inevitable. Jeff Wair, an ERS sales team member, explains: “Whether it’s a system for ICW or ASR, we design our systems to be efficient and cost-effective for the customer. Our systems are designed for maximum production with minimal downtime. With this in mind, we understand that system uptime is a must, so we maintain a huge inventory of wear parts in our Atlanta warehouse.”

ERS’ 50,000-square-foot parts facility in Atlanta serves North American customers efficiently. The company’s web-based portal streamlines part orders, providing easy access for customers.

Superior recovery through in-house integration

ERS’ commitment to excellence extends to sourcing best-in-class machinery and integrating it entirely in-house. Jim Cunningham highlights its unique approach: “All our control systems and software are engineered internally, ensuring flawless integration.”

This meticulous process results in 99 percent purity for recovered materials. Its density separators play a crucial role, maximizing recovery.
