Keep America Beautiful (KAB), Stamford, Conn., has announced that it will award the National Recycling Coalition (NRC) a grant to conduct a series of training sessions and networking opportunities for state and regional recycling organization executives and board leaders.
With the grant, NRC will enlist the Institute for Conservation Leadership, a nationally recognized nonprofit management consulting group, to produce a four-part webinar series that will include topics such as strategic planning, coalition building, volunteer recruitment, fundraising and board development. In addition to the webinars, NRC will host a full-day workshop promoting peer learning and information exchange.
“We are very supportive of NRC and its initiative to provide organizational development resources to state and regional recycling organizations,” says KAB President and CEO Matt McKenna. “Companies represented on the KAB board, such as The Coca-Cola Co., agree that healthy state recycling organizations are critical to increasing the recycling rate in America.”
NRC President Melinda Uerling says, “Recycling organization leaders told us firsthand that a series of organization-building workshops would prove worthwhile to them and enhance the value of their relationship with the NRC.”
The first webinar will be in July. Membership in the NRC will be a requirement, but currently affiliated organizations can renew at a discounted rate. New organizations may join the NRC for an annual fee of $1,000. Interested organizations should contact Melinda Uerling at muerling@recycleannarbor.org for more information.
The volunteer-run NRC is a national network of professionals representing all aspects of sustainable resource flow management, including waste reduction, reuse and recycling in North America. More information is available at www.nrc-recycle.org.
