Al-jon Inc.
Al-jon Inc., Ottumwa, Iowa, has installed two LC90 Lid Crushers at Co-Steel Recycling, Whitby, Ontario. The LC90 is a portable, high-volume, single-operator car crusher capable of compacting up to five full-size cars into one stack. Additionally, Al-jon has installed its 400 Logger/Baler at Wilson Recycling, Kennett, Mo., and a National Recycling Services, Erie, Penn. This portable logger is a versatile machine that can convert bulky, loose scrap into three different sized bundles.
AMERICAN BALER
Community Action Recycling Enterprise, Fort Wayne, Ind., has installed another baler from American Baler, Bellevue, Ohio. The American Baler 8043 is the second one installed at Community Action Recycling; the first one was installed last fall. Community Action Recycling bales cardboard, office grade paper, steel food cans, four grades of plastic and aluminum beverage cans.
HI-RISE RECYCLING
Hi-Rise Recycling Systems Inc., North Miami Beach, Fla., has installed its first recycling system in New York City. The system is in the 33-story staff housing residence of St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center. The building has 465 apartments and more than 1,000 residents. The Hi-Rise recycling system features a revolving carousel at the bottom of the garbage chute. The carousel is activated by a button on each floor that aligns the correct pie-shaped bin with the type of trash being discarded. The bins remove for easy discharge of materials.
“Data shows that the Hi-Rise Recycling System can significantly reduce the volume of garbage destined for landfills from a multi-story building more than any other system, mechanical or manual,” says Mark Shantzis, CEO of Hi-Rise.
