Ely Enterprises Installs Harris Equipment
Ely Enterprises, Cleveland, has undertaken two sizable installation projects. The company installed a Harris Press & Shear TGH-144A baler at KTH Parts in St. Paris, Ohio. KTH supplies stamped auto parts to Honda of America. The Harris TGH-144A baler will replace an existing unit and double the company’s in-plant baling capacity. Ely Enterprises was also chosen by the Solid Waste District of Gallia, Jackson, Meigs and Vinton counties (GJMV) in southern Ohio to provide the recycling equipment for their new facility. Among the equipment that will be installed there will be a co-mingled sorting system and an Excel horizontal baler and infeed conveyor. The system will process the recyclables for the four counties.
Bulk Handling Systems Inc.
Bulk Handling Systems Inc. (BHS), Eugene, Ore., has supplied three fiber screening systems to Waste Management Inc. Each BHS system includes an OCC Separator designed to mechanically separate corrugated from commercial/industrial material streams. Mixed fiber is conveyed to portable sorting platforms.
Van Dyk Baler Corp.
E.L. Harvey and Sons of Westboro, Mass. has purchased a Bollegraaf baler and fiber processing system from Van Dyk Baler Corp., Stamford, Conn. The regional waste handling and recycling firm has purchased a Bollegraaf HBC-100F baler fed by a Bollegraaf sorting and conveying system.
Riverside Products Ships Largest Rotors
What are being billed as the world’s largest shredder rotors are being built and shipped by Riverside Products of Moline, Ill. The first of the 122" x 108" rotors is being used by SMI (Structural Metals Inc.) at its Seguin, Texas mill and scrap yard. The rotor has been installed in SMI’s Texas Shredder Inc. super-sized shredder unit.
The rotor, without any hammers attached, weighs over 120,000 pounds. It is made of heat-treated alloy steel castings that were poured and heat-treated at Riverside’s sister foundry division, Sivyer Steel. At SMI, the rotor as part of the Texas Shredder hammermill unit is used in combination with ten manganese steel hammers weighing 885 pounds each. The combined 165,000 pound rotor with hammers is then driven by a 7,000 horsepower motor.
Riverside has received its second series of orders for a shredding plant operated by a scrap processing firm on the Pacific coast.
