Hustler Conveyor

Hustler Conveyor Co., St. Charles, Mo., is the primary supplier of conveying equipment for the new state-of-the-art automated recycling facility in St. Louis, Mo., recently completed for Smurfit Recycling Co., a division of Jefferson Smurfit Corp.

Hustler supplied more than 50 conveyors and the majority of the platform work for this large-capacity facility. The plant, which will have a commingled rigid container line and two fiber lines, is integrated with other equipment such as disc screens, compactors, and three single-ram balers.

Countec

Countec Recycling Systems, Des Moines, Iowa, has completed a custom McMRF 500 Commingled Container Sort System with a "Steady Eddy" eddy current separator for FCR, Alexandria, Va. The facility processes 50 TPS of commingled containers, according to the company.

In addition, Countec also completed a custom "Steady Eddy" eddy current/conveyor system for Outagamie County in Appleton, Wis. The facility began processing aluminum using the labor-free separator in August.

Hawco

CFF de Mexico, Mexico City, has purchased an H10025 hydraulic equilibrium crane from Hawco Industries L.L.C., Slaughter, La. The crane, which is being used to feed a shredder, offers 8,800 pounds of lifting capacity at its full reach of 82 feet and is equipped with a Hawco 1.5-yard, four-tine hydraulic grapple.

In another Hawco sale, Southern Scrap Material Co. L.L.C., New Orleans, has purchased an H20025 Hawco equilibrium crane that will operate on a rail-mounted gantry base. The crane, slated for summer delivery, will be driven by a 275-horsepower electric motor and will offer 82 feet of reach and have the capacity to lift 17,600 pounds at full reach. The crane will be used to manage ferrous scrap piles and to load and unload barges.

Altek International

Altek International Inc., Exton, Pa., has installed its first Tumbler at S&R Enterprises, Wabash, Ind. Altek’s dross treatment technology consists of The Press for treating hot dross and The Tumbler for treating cold dross. For white (salt-free) dross, companies can typically recover 20 percent to 30 percent more metal in-house using The Press, and an additional 25 percent to 40 percent of high-metallic concentrates (85 percent to 90 percent aluminum) can be recovered with The Tumbler. At S&R Enterprises, The Tumbler is primarily used to treat black dross and saltcake.
