Segall Becomes NAID President

New officers and board directors were elected or proceeded into office at the 2007 Annual Conference of the National Association for Information Destruction (NAID), April 11-13, at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando, Fla.

Nate Segall from Accushred, Toledo, Ohio, steps into the post of president. Segall had been serving as the organization’s president-elect. He succeeds Allen Judkiewicz of Cintas Document Management, Grapevine, Texas.

After Segall’s one-year term is complete next spring, he will be succeeded by president-elect Tom Simpson of AAA Certified Confidential Security Corp., Peoria, Ill. Simpson ran unopposed for the president-elect slot this year.

The new NAID secretary is Tom McGinnis of E-Data Shred, Brockton, Mass., who also ran unopposed. Tim Oberst of Ohio Mobile Shredding, Columbus, Ohio, who received more votes than opponent Kenneth Williams of Chicago Shred Authority, Chicago, will serve as the organization’s treasurer.

Seven candidates ran for two open slots on the board of directors. The winners were Jim Beran of Shred Right, St. Paul, Minn., and Jay Burns of Crown Shredding, Winter Haven, Fla.

At NAID’s annual business meeting, Judkiewicz outlined NAID’s financial position, which appears solid, with nearly $800,000 of cash on hand after a recently concluded fiscal year in which revenue outweighed expenses by nearly $100,000.

Judkiewicz also reviewed the recommended changes to NAID’s bylaws, which includes an amendment to stagger the terms of the secretary and the treasurer so that one of the two has experience in office at any given time.
