A former corporate "help desk" worker has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for stealing confidential information from 30,000 customers.
Philip Cummings worked at the help desk of Teledata Communications, a Long Island, N.Y.-based provider of custom software to the financial services industry. He had access to codes and passwords, which he sold to co-conspirators, enabling them to download credit reports.
IRON MOUNTAIN FORMS NEW BUSINESS UNIT
Iron Mountain Inc., Boston, has formed the Iron Mountain Intellectual Property Management Inc. business unit, a combination of the former DSI Technology Escrow Services business unit with Arcemus, the domain name records management company it acquired in May of 2004.
Iron Mountain says the new business unit will benefit from Arcemus’ secure online service delivery capabilities that help clients efficiently acquire, manage and enforce the use of domain names and trademarks online.
WARDROBE MALFUNCTION
WDIV TV in Detroit reports that a 19-year-old employee of a suburban Detroit Gap store stole credit and bank card information from up to 20 customers to finance a trip to Mexico. He was nabbed after allegedly attempting to buy a Chevrolet Trailblazer using a stolen account.
